I just remembered Phoenix signing him over the off-season. Don't know what's happened to him since then.

He's in the AHL, to my knowledge.

Stafford is out with a hip flexor suffered last night. Tyler Ennis will make his NHL debut in his place.

Grier and Lydman are also both out for us with groin injuries.

Vanek-Ennis-Connolly (or flip the two centermen, hasn't been determined)
MacArthur-Roy-Pominville
Hecht-Kennedy-Kaleta
Ellis-Gaustad-Mair

Tallinder-Myers
Butler-Rivet
Sekera-Montador

Miller in net for us tonight again.

Ahh that should be fun. Heard a good amount about him. Should be a good watch. But now instead of hearing about Myers 24/7 like last time from your announcers... we'll be hearing about Ennis the whole time lol...

Semantics. If you can only name one person in the NHL worse than Riley Cote I think the essence of their point is strengthened, despite their statement being proven technically wrong. He is pretty bad, dude.

Also Joe Esposito is the best. Makes me chuckle and sing along at the same time.

There are still room for enforcers in this league, they just need to know how to skate and be productive for more than 4 minutes a game. That does not describe Cote.

Ennis to make NHL debut

PHILADELPHIA -- Buffalo Sabres prospect Tyler Ennis is expected to make his NHL debut tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers after winger Drew Stafford suffered a hip-flexor injury Friday night against the Calgary Flames.

Ennis, selected 26th overall in 2008, was flying from Buffalo to Portland and was scheduled to land about two hours before the game. Sabres coach Lindy Ruff was still figuring out how he would use the 20-year-old center but was considering playing him between veterans Thomas Vanek and Tim Connolly. Ennis also was expected to get some time on the power play.

"He makes a lot of good plays," Ruff said. "With a skill guy out of the lineup, we look to put a little more skill against these guys."

Ruff had a chance to see Ennis, who is 5-foot-9 and 163 pounds, record two assists Thursday night when Portland played Rochester in HSBC Arena. Ennis was second behind Mark Mancari among Pirates in scoring with six goals and 13 points. Ennis had 43 goals and 85 points in 61 games last season with Medicine Hat in the Western Hockey League.

Stafford did not skate during the optional morning workout. The other scratches will be forward Mike Grier and defensemen Toni Lydman and Nathan Paetsch.

1) We don't have many newly drafted prospects

2) We have this season. David Laliberte ring a bell?

If Laliberte wasn't demoted, then he'd be in. Bartulis was recalled because of the injuries on the blue-line.

Agreed. The game would be better if no team had enforcers IMO. let your scrappy energy guys police the other team if they get out of line. But then there would be one team who got a legit heavyweight enforcer and it would be an advantage. Its an arms race of sorts I guess.

I like how the Flyers have been doing ti so far this season, they have a couple of guys who can play, that also just happen to be able to really throw em. I like the idea that if you get out of line with a Flyer there is someone on 3/4 of the lines who can drop em right there, as opposed to two big oafs coming out two shifts later and fighting a meaningless proxy-battle.

DNFlyers

Lineup change: Ryan Parent back, Oskars Bartulis stays in, Danny Syvret healthy scratch. Makes zero sense.

Laliberte has been in the system a couple of years now and finally got a call-up. It wasn't like he was some highly touted prospect they just drafted.

The Flyers always seem content with throwing Cote into the line-up when we lose a skill guy, that is my grief. They only put in Laliberte because at the time we were down Gagne, Briere, Betts, just putting in Cote wasn't enough.

Should have let Syvret play some O. Since there will probably be a good chance that Parent gets hurt AGAIN and this is still just Bart's SECOND game. Be good to have at least a back-up plan if there are issues with one or both.

Laliberte jumped over a bunch of guys and into the 2nd line. This will be Cote's 4th game this season. Unlike the past, Stevens doesn't just throw him in there and hope he doesn't fail.

I'd almost rather just dress 7 d-men just in case and let, well, anyone pick up Cote's 3:43 seconds.

Sabres fan here. The lineup will most likely be a little different from what you have. The top two lines will probably look like this:

MacArthur-Roy-Pominville
Vanek-Ennis-Connolly

Just wanted to say that this is an epically ridiculous GDT. I really enjoyed reading the entire first post.

Props to whoever put this together

A lot of good times between our two teams, eh?

Agreed, these last couple of years having access to every game and not just Flyers' games opened my eyes to how inept Cote is. I knew he was bad. I just didn't know he was as bad as he actually is.

And I watched Hollweg play a preseason game with the Coyotes this year against the Ducks. He's not as bad as Cote and it's obvious.

No, but he does check players in the back and they go flying into the boards. The last thing we need, is Ryan Hollweg.

Agreed, he's a boarding nightmare and I want him nowhere near the O&B.

However...

He adds comedic value, Cote brings shiners.
