Games like this are concerning. They're more worrisome than the typical blowout because typically a blowout you just get a few bad breaks and the game spins out of control -- this one they just got crushed wire to wire.
Gionta by himself can't have made THIS much difference, but I'm worried that the team seems to be regressing. They used to have good games and lose them, now they have bad games. Surely they're not tuning out the coach already?
Makes people criticizing Price look pretty stupid though. Although no doubt the highly superficial types will only note that it's an extra L for him. An invincible goalie can do a lot to restore team confidence over time too -- it's the one way out of a death spiral.
This exactly the type of game that make you realize that SV% is a much much better indication of performance than GAA...Price could have let 4 goals tonight and had ****** 4.00GAA with a great .927SV%.
I think what will annoy me more is if I listen to JM's press conference, ie. watching him making those faces like he's being deranged by some invisible spectre or having a proctology exam, while giving no reasons for why things are going the way they are (he should know by now).
