Rangers talking to Montreal about the Kostitsyn bros
The Rangers have held trade talks with the Habs about Fs Sergei and Andrei Kostitsyn because New York could be without Cs Chris Drury (concussion) and C Brandon Dubinsky (broken hand) long term. Drury’s status is uncertain, while Dubinsky is gone 4-6 weeks. Oilers GM Steve Tambellini is also looking at acquiring Sergei, who was a linemate of Edmonton C Sam Gagner when they played junior together with the OHL’s London Knights. Montreal GM Bob Gainey would love to move Sergei, who is currently with AHL Hamilton
If this is indeed true maybe Sather and Torts are now concentrating on trying to add to the talent level of this team to replace some grinder-types. Lisin for Korpikoski, adding the Kostitsyn brothers would most likely be a positive in the talent column. All of them came with their problems, Lisin with his defensive-zone coverage and the Kostitsyns with their attitudes.
And we will become even softer then we are now. God i hope this isnt true
Actually, I have seen both Kostitsyns fight. When they are playing well they play with an edge and are very good forecheckers. Its the attitude that needs to change, but they play with more of an edge than most of our top-9.
Redden .. But I think they would ask for Girardi and +..
Call them on it. We cant move for Andrei unless money comes back. And who would even want to give up value for the guy? He has two okay seasons and carries a large price tag for the next couple seasons. Another 2nd/3rd liner with a large paycheck this team does not need. Unless Redden, Rozsival, or Drury is going back I have a feeling I would be displeased with any deal.
