Doesn't mean his ice time can not be cut or he could be a healthy scratch. Juice has just as many bad turnovers as Nikita and just gets sent back out on his next shift. Double standards are fun right?

Because people have some sort of obsession with Filatov. I still think he can fit in here if he could just freaking backcheck. It's not hard.

Oh my, we beat Anaheim and Edmonton by one goal AT HOME. Those teams are ranked 12th and 15th in the conference with a total of 14 wins out of 40....

Wait....just wait.

My guess is he returns to Russia, has another great WJC tourny, has a good season with the CSKA, Columbus has a better playoff run and develops their team just fine without Filatov, summer rolls around....Filatov is traded for another prospect/player who will fit in better under Hitch's system. Nik will find a new home and light up the NHL just fine with a team where he fits in.

Yea but whats the point in sitting a guy that makes 4M a year? Then you're just paying him to do nothing. Filatov makes no money anyway so you might as well move him to where he can do something. Don't get me wrong, I like Filatov more than Juice, but your argument is flawed because of the mechanics of moving players around. If Filatov had Juice's salary and Juice were 19 years old, then Filatov would still be playing on the front line with Nash

Too bad Toronto doesn't have a first round draft pick still, they could take Filatov and we could get a 1st overall draft pick and they would get their scorer they wanted so bad

Newsflash: Hockey is a team sport.

The coach is icing the best players to make the best team.

Boo ****ing Hoo

All the babies are crying because their little Filly toy is gonna leave. Yeah, this little kid deserves to be playing all this ice time when its obvious he can't hang. Seems like he can't handle the heat of the NHL. And that's the coaches fault. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHA

I wish Filatov the best, because I really like the player, but I like the team more.

Get some perspective you dufuses---this is immaturity on the kids part.
Are you serious? Filatov was ranked the top in the non Alberta world prior to being drafted....have another drink WO.

Come on man, it's a high 1st rounder, you should understand why some people would be mad over this. If it was a later round pick it wouldn't matter, you can debate that, but it's true. Legein leaving the team wasn't this big of a deal.

Your point?

I don't deny his skill. i love the player.

But he is a non factor. Not ready. Immature. Spoiled.

We are icing the best team we have for reasons other than some rankings

Your argument a week ago was Hitch was incapable of ruining Filatov, and now it's oh we don't need him anyways. Funny stuff

Dude, I'm mad too. At Filatov. Just cuz I'm not in your Blame Hitch circle-jerk doesn't mean I'm not pissed about this.

Take off the GD blinders.

He is 19, how mature were you are 19? Spoiled is a funny comment though. The kid is lucky to even dress for the game and he is spoiled.

On a lighter note; who would you guys have rather drafted in 08 with hindsight being 20/20.

Samkow's crush on Hodgson looks pretty good right now.

Viqsi's boy, Colin Wilson is looking promising.

I like Erik Karlsson and Tyler Myers personally, we need those 2 different types of guys on our blueline.

As a Ranger fan who sees the Flyers quite a bit, they have good reason to doubt both of those guys. Stevens often seems lost and too emotionless to be a serious head coach. He doesn't even seem to have an actual system in place, to be honest. IMO, the players win in spite of him, not because of him. He is great with young players though, and is miscast as a head coach when he should be an assistant.

While Holmgren has been a good GM for the most part, it will be interesting to see what happens to them if they fail to win the cup within the next couple of years. After all, he did sign Pronger to that extension without checking that it would count the entire duration (don't believe for a second that he really meant it), and in general he has shown little in managing the cap.

Yeah, it sucks he can't just play in the AHL for a full season this year. I never really thought he was very good down there last season, anyway. If he starts to play like he deserves to be up, bring him up. It's pathetic that Howson has to make this deal with him. How is he going to get adjusted to the North American game in Russia? Supposedly that's one of his big problems.

Yea, he was the best player for Anaheim the other night

In all seriousness though, I don't understand this debate so I'll just go to bed. I like Filatov, I hope he can get back on the fourth line with some other scorers and not players like Boll so that he can get out there for scoring chances and not have to play much defense. But in the end, all I want is a team that gets along and wins games, and the constant talk of Filatov is exhausting, especially since nothing has happened.

There is not more than a couple of teams in the NHL that Nikita Filatov would be in the top six at this point. Nor would he be getting more than 4th line minutes on most. So yes on most teams he would be playing with the Boll's of the world.

Want to move up?, take a lesson from the Derek Dorsetts of the world and earn it, don't blackmail the team with threats of leaving and expect it.

Possible, or it could all go just as you say except Nikki returns to Columbus next summer older, stronger, and better. Then, perhaps, he makes the team on merit?

The CBJ own his NHL rights.
He doesn't want to play in Syracuse.
He's not contributing in Columbus.

So, instead of sitting on the bench in Columbus or stewing in the 'Cuse, he's loaned to CSKA and continues to develop. Isn't that scenario just as likely?

Dorsett and Mackenzie have played better than Filatov has so far this year. Just pointing that out. Maybe even Chimera too. But really I guess you can't help but argue that there's no reason to have Boll on the team. Then again, I don't remember seeing Boll after his fight this game. But then people would be complaining that Filatov only played in the first, then didn't play any shifts after that, just like the whole fourth line did tonight.
