Meteor Shower Tonight

I'll beg the latitude of the Mods for the next four hours on this - supposed to be a good one if you have clear skies and boondocks dark...

I so happen to be learning about meteor showers right now in my Astrobiology class. Wish I lived on the West Coast, hopefully NASA will have pics of videos if they're involved.

I'm getting mixed reports about whether it's 1 pst or est. I'll be up all night most likely, though.

Rain (I know, it never rains here...) + light pollution means that I probably won't be able to see it...

Yeah, I'm always up til like 3ish. Get up at 8:30 for work, arrive around 10, put my 9 hours in, and bounce.

So 4 with the next day off isn't a problem. Hell, I was up til about 3:30 last night...

Sleep is overrated.

Peak, I think was 2100 UTC, whatever the eff that is. The glory viewing was to be in Malaysia - that side of the world running face first into the debris.

Run outside now and you may catch some, dude.

0400 EST just happens to be the best viewing in this half of the globe.

Clear skies in Portland? In November? Not bloody likely!! It's too bad. Portland is actually a great city to view meteor showers in. We don't seem to give off quite as much light pollution as other cities. I've actually seen a couple shooting stars while being practically in downtown.

Is a GDT necessary at 4 for the zombies staying up? I'm in.

Lucky you. I get to write a paper.

But it's not that bad...it's a poem explication, and the poem I chose is all about how gruesome World War I was.

Would be nice if we had clear skies out here; rain as always.

You know it's bad when you come on here at 4am and 1 person is on. I came on last night that late.

A couple of my friends drove hours away from Phoenix to watch and camp in the desert. **** that. The desert is freezing at night.

Woke up at about 3:50, saw the cloudy skies and fell back asleep. Too bad, catch you on the next one.
