A side note for tonight’s game - Bengt-Åke Gustafsson, the head coach for the Swedish Olympic team, and one of his assistants are currently taking in 9 NHL games as part of their preparation for naming the Swedish Olympic team next month. According to a list of games that was published in a Swedish paper a couple of weeks ago, they are scheduled to be in Nashville tonight to watch Patric and Douglas Murray.

So, here’s to hoping Patric makes a good impression by helping the Preds win.

I wouldn't mind seeing him suit up in the Olympics.. for some guys it's a once in a lifetime experience.

I'd like our guys to rest and recuperate, but same here, if Patric gets selected I'll be very happy for him.

With his speed and energy I'll bet he's good on the bigger ice and Olympic rules. I would think he has a decent chance even with the Swedes having many good players.

I don't really forsee him not making the squad, to be honest.

If Franzen is out of the picture and Hörnqvist continues to play well, I could see it.

I don't think Franzen will be 100%, but I could see him getting a spot based on reputation. Franzen is a hell of a player.

The Wings aren't expecting him back until March, so the chances that he'll play at the Games are infinitesimally small.

With the games on North American style ice this year, Hörnqvist's style becomes much more effective. I think it's either him or Bergfors taking one of the spots, and Johan Davidsson might take the other (although he's a natural center so he isn't directly competing with those two).

I like horny's chances alot better if Franzen is indeed completely out of the picture.

Ahh, that's right. I forgot all about hearing that. I was sort of bummed about that. One thing I always enjoyed in the Olympics was the wide ice.

I would have thought the opposite of your view. I think Hornqvist's game would be even more suited to the International ice. Even though he's tough and doesn't shy away from corners.

Nabokov has played 20 games this season. Five of the last six. The three most recent were played over four days with a back to back. My guess is they're giving him a rest tonight since we're one of the weakest offensive teams in the league. They also have a back to back against Philly and Anaheim starting Friday.

I think we are due for an offensive letdown. Probably only 48-49 shots on net tonight.

I don't expect this to be like the last meeting, although the trickle goal cost us the game, I expect SJ to take a slightly more intense approach.

This place is empty. Not a good sign. Hopefully we get a bujnch of exchanges from season ticket holders.
