Mckenzie breaks in briefly about the deals: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=298728

He mentions it "may" take longer to get Keith's long-term approved due to the still ongoing NHL review of previous long-term deals (i.e. Hossa).

If Mckenzie is right then my enjoyment is slowly fading a little

In excess of 6 mil a yr for Toews and Kane (6.5 he is speculating)

Yeah we have problems due to those cap hit

I can't believe they can ask for that much I'll be disappointed if they get anymore than 6. Why do they need so much anyway they're 21! I hate agents. Johnny would never ask so much by himself.

Are you serious? Money is #1 on almost every person's mind

As for Toews and Kane I felt they should have been 5.75 a yr hits. But above 6 mil is overpayment

Keith deal I am fine with. Hit is good and length is fine

Yep, he's speculating some $61 million in the books for next season for only 15 players.

Yeah, I'm serious. Can't believe you say that like it's no big deal. It should be hockey.

Anyways... So the Keith deal is final?

Yeah I have tried at capgeek to come up with a good lineup and the best scenario if we cant move Campbell is this

My new revised roster

If the Cap is a little bit above 55 million (That is where I think it will be) Here is a course of action

-Waive Sopel and Huet (Yes Hawks will have to eat that)
-Trade Versteeg , Byfuglien and Barker for picks/prospects, Replace with guys in system (Aliu , Skille , Beach and Connelly)
-Dont retain Ben Eager and Adam Burish
-Trade Ladd's RFA rights + pick to Wild for Josh Harding (Ladd would fit in well in Minny)
-Resign madden for 1.5 million a yr for 2 yrs (He will probably accept that if we give him 2 yr deal)
-Resign RFA's Hendry , Niemi and Hjalmarsson at raises (Only significant raise would be Hjalmarsson)
-Resign Jack Skille for alot less then his current ELC deal which expires

2010-2011 Chicago Blackhawks
Sharp (3.9) - Toews (6.5) - Hossa (5.275)
Beach (1.2) - Bolland (3.375) - Kane (6.5)
Kopecky (1.2) - Madden (1.5) - Brouwer (1.025)
Aliu (.846) - Fraser (.750) - Skille (.950)

Seabrook (3.5) - Keith (5.75)
Campbell (7.143) - Hjalmarsson (1.2)
Connelly (.875) - Hendry (.750)

Josh Harding ($2.000m)
Antti Niemi ($0.925m)

Cap hit = slightly above 55 million

The Hossa deal just doesn't fit with this team and Campbell and Huet deals are horrid going forward

I like that team above but it will be weaker then this years and wont have any cap flexibility in event of injury

It does IMO.

Also;Although I'm not a Campbell Hater, as i think he brings something to this team, he is tradeable. Think a deal like this:Versteeg/Buff + Soup for Kabs + mid prospect is workable In my opinion.Same with Huet. Wash may want him back as Boudreau has been calling out his goalies recently and apparently wanted them to resign Huet a few years ago.

The Maple Leafs will want more and even then taking Kablerle's salary back still means we will have to get rid of most of our depth.

And Washington has Varlamov so they wont want Huet for 2 more years at his cap hit when they can have Varlamov and probably resign Theodore at lower hit to be backup.

I dont see a market out there for either Campbell or Huet at this time.

WTF are you talking about??????????? Its the Tribune, WGN and CLTV not some rumor site. Did you even click the link? Its Chris Kuc reporting it.

BTW it was SoxNet.net that reported the trade rumor.

6 would be okay. As long as the 13 @ 5.5 deal gets done, I'm happy.

Same. 6 is fair for K and T, 5.5 is a good deal for us, 6.5 is a bit of an overpayment by us, a bit, depending on the length of the deal

done?

I don't see any report anywhere that says it's done. Until there is an official announcement and I see a confirmed link to that official announcement - I'm not going to jump to conclusions and think it's done.

Just a heads up from someone close to the Keith family. It is 13 @ 5.5 (72 some odd million, I think it's the largest Dman contract in history)

I have text's/info to back it up.

you guys are lucky SOB's

Seabrook (3.5) - Keith (5.75)
Campbell (7.143) - Hjalmarsson (1.2)
Connelly (.875) - Hendry (.750)

Josh Harding ($2.000m)
Antti Niemi ($0.925m)

A couple problems w/ your scenario: your cap # doesn't incorporate anything for waiving Huet & Sopel... so that $55M is understated. Also, I'm not sure Madden comes back for $1M less than he's making this year. Winning's great, but cash is king. If the Hawks don't win the Cup this year, why does he take a 40% paycut form an already-cheap deal to come back and be a 4th line C?

I would change a few things from your proposed lineup:

2010-2011 Chicago Blackhawks
Kane (6.5) - Toews (6.5) - Hossa (5.275)
Sharp (3.9) - Bolland (3.375) - Versteeg (3.083)
Brouwer (1.025) - Burish (.750) - Beach (1.2)
Kopecky (1.2) - Dowell (.750) - Aliu (.750)

Seabrook (3.5) - Keith (5.5)
Barker (3.083) - Hjalmarsson (1.2)
LaLonde (.900) - Hendry (.750)

Cristobal Huet ($5.625m)
Antti Niemi ($0.925m)

PLUS Campbell buyout (2.14M), Sopel buyout (1.0M)
TRADE Byfuglien for Matt Cullen during this season if Sharp/Steeger/Hossa isn't a C
TRADE Ladd for pick(s) before deadline, get Dowell/Bickell up here to get experience

TOTAL CAP #: $58.9M

I'm a fan of buying Campbell out because, while there might be a market for a $7.1M blue liner, that market is going to require that some cash come back via trade. Yes, having to pay Campbell $26M over 12 years to be somewhere else sucks, but I would rather have the $5M cap savings for the next five, while we've got this group together. Let the cards fall where they might in five, ten years... I wanna win now, and if saving $5M to make it work by buying out Campbell is what needs to happen for that to dance, turn the music on brother!

Also, the next steps on this plan would include, based on the progress of LaLonde and Olsen, trading Barker to lower the cap number again.

If you get in an accident at work, or win the lotto, are you going to design a "Jump To Conclusions" game? Like Twister? Get it? JUMP... to conclusions?
