GAME PREIVEW
Last 10 -- Flyers 7-3-0; Kings 5-3-2.

Season series -- This is the lone meeting between the teams this season. Jonathan Quick made 31 saves on Jan. 3 as Los Angeles earned a 2-1 shootout victory against Philadelphia at Staples Center. Philadelphia won the last meeting between the teams, 2-0 at the Wachovia Center on Feb. 25.

Big story -- Philadelphia heads to the West Coast with plenty of momentum after putting an end to the New Jersey Devils' winning ways on Monday night. New Jersey had a chance to tie the Buffalo Sabres for the most consecutive victories on the road to start a season (10), but Ray Emery made 33 saves in the Flyers' 3-2 win at the Wachovia Center -- which also ended the Devils' eight-game overall winning streak.

Team scope :

Flyers -- One of the many reasons Philadelphia has won six of last seven games is the play of James van Riemsdyk. The rookie forward has looked awfully good skating on a line with Danny Briere and Jeff Carter. He scored his fifth goal of the season during Monday's win against the Devils.

"Danny B (Briere) and Carts (Carter) were great on the forecheck there," van Riemsdyk said when asked to describe his goal. "It kind of caused a turnover, and I think the goalie might have poked it; Marty might have poked it out there. I was just at the right spot at the right time, and just threw it on net."

Kings -- Los Angeles returns home following a successful five-game road trip. The Kings ended their trek on a winning note when Jack Johnson scored in the shootout to give L.A. a 4-3 victory at Florida on Monday night.

"It's a fairly successful road trip," Johnson said after his team racked up three wins. "Obviously you want to go 5-0, but you're playing in the NHL and you're playing a lot of games. I think if we can win more than we lose on the road, and win our home games, we'll be in a great spot."

Who's hot -- Flyers forward Claude Giroux had a pair of assists against New Jersey and now has 10 points in 17 games. … Not only did Johnson score in the shootout on Monday, but the Kings' defenseman also scored on the power play in the third period. He has 6 points and 18 penalty minutes in 22 games.

Injury report -- Flyers right wing Arron Asham is expected to miss 10-14 days after suffering a strained oblique muscle on Monday. Left wing Simone Gagne (hernia) is out 4-6 weeks. … Los Angeles will be without veteran forward Ryan Smyth (upper body) and defenseman Rob Scuderi (lower body). Alec Martinez is also out with high ankle sprain.

Stat pack -- After this one, the Kings will play 17 of their next 18 games against Western teams. Twelve of those are against Central and Northwest Division opponents.

Puck drop -- This will be a very memorable trip for van Riemsdyk, who grew up in Middletown, N.J. The 20-year-old has never been to the West Coast.

"It's definitely a huge thrill," he said. "Kansas, I think, is the farthest west I've been. It will be pretty cool to see the whole country. I've never seen the Pacific Ocean. It will be great to go out there and see those buildings and the atmosphere out there. It's obviously a different experience, so that will be a pretty big thrill."

I'm scared. Quick better be sharp tonight.

I am however optimistic about Frolov on the 1st line. I like the way he's been playing lately. Hopefully he starts one of his hot streaks tonight.

BTW, the game will be streamed on Yahoo tonight. Link posted in GDT.

Quick needs to stand on his head, Frolov needs to take over and truly put up a first-line effort and then some, and our secondary scoring needs to contribute. 3-2 Kings, GO KINGS!

I pray to God I eat my words on this one, but I have a feeling the Kings are going to get their collective stools pushed in.

Brian Boucher is starting tonight for the Flyers, not Emery.

We have a habit of making backups look like allstars, too

I'm very scared of this one, but I DO expect an upbeat game. I'm sure the boys will come out flying to compensate for the loss of veterans.

Jeez. Such panic.

**** the Flyers. We beat them last year when they were a better team and we were worse. We finish our checks, we win.

Two players are going to kick ass tonight. Quick and Parse.

Thank god.. we have a chance.

Especially if teams still have this notion that they can get away with playing their backup goalie against us. I guess we can thank San Jose for that.

Quick will win the battle of the goaltenders. Feeling good about the game, the boys will grind it out and capitalize on their chances too. The absence of Smyth? Not worried..Frolov is still with the team!

Here's to a good game tonight guys, its gonna be a late one for us Flyers fans on the east coast, luckily no class until noon tomorrow so i'll be able to catch this one in its entirety. Always fun playing west coast teams that we don't get to see much out here, and I absolutely love D. Brown's style of play, wish he were a flyer over almost anyone in the league, hopefully he doesn't plow too many of our players through the boards hahah.

cheers

I really, really, REALLY need the Kings to win tonight as my neighbor and I will be going to the game with a co-worker who's from Philly and a few friends of his.

Coffee room smack talk is on the line.

I can live with giving them the Dodgers/Phillies series, but not the Kings/Flyers.

Kings 4 - 1 (Frolov scores 2)

Go Kings!!

Huh? Chris Pronger/Ray Emery say hello.

Boucher sucks though, so I have no faith in him tonight.

One of the (few) Kings' highlights from the last few years was Kopitar's rookie season when he walked around Pronger to score.

And Kopitar is a better player now (is Pronger better as well?)

And it's also very nice to go into a game with a "perceived advantage" in goal. (very unlike the last few seasons)

Ok, now that I've jinxed any chance of a Kings win, I'll be off.

Frolov will have a good game tonight....he has 1st line talent and i believe he will show us why we want to keep him in LA....

When he is motivated, hes a top 10 LW in the league....this promotion should do that....at least for the first few games

I wasn't saying anything bad about the kings, just saying that Emery and Pronger have made the Flyers a better team than last year. Add to that a checking line Carcillo-Betts-Laperiere that is doing great out there, we are a better team than last year(who needs Lupul/Knuble with JVR and Giroux emerging)

Your team looks a lot better this year aswell, save for Quick lacking a bit of consistency. Smyth trade was great for you guys.
