Drury on Injured Reserve? (Zipay confirms he's not)

http://www.rangerstribune.com/2009/1...ury-on-ir.html

"Somehow this has gone under the radar in all of Ranger-land, but Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported earlier today that the New York Rangers have placed captain Chris Drury (concussion) on Injured Reserve. ..."

SO this means that he has to sit out another 10 games? Am I correct or is it something like 10 days?

So we have what, $8+ million on injured reserve? That's a lot of cap space. I know the problem is if we add someone what do we do when drury and dubinsky are ready to come back. But this team needs another scorer and its not like our seasons over. Its still early in the season and were in the middle of things. We have an elite talent at forward, an elite goaltender, solid defenders who havent been their best lately, but were missing that extra scorer. I think you have to consider making a move to get this team going and worry about the problems of moving guys later.

Andrew Gross is reporting this to be inaccurate at this time...although you would think this news should become offical soon. They guy doesn't seem anywhere near ready to play.

This means we can use his cap-hit on someone else until he comes back?

Edit: Nevermind, one of the above posters answered that

Yes, assuming he is on IR. The problem is if it's not going to be long term we have to then move salary when he comes back.

Just go on LTIR and be done with it...now all we need is Rozsival and Redden to also go on LTIR and this team could quickly become a cup contender with all the cap space.

Why Redden? He's been one of our best defenders this year whether you want to believe it or not. He made a bad mistake last night. But I can forgive him because he has played very well. Stop hating on him so much. Sather is the one who gave him that contract.

I agree. Redden is playing steady, and theres no reason to take him out. If it aint broke dont fix it. Yeah he wont ever play up to his contract but still.

I agree with this assertion but not about Redden.

That money Drury frees up is clutch though. If he goes on LTIR then it might save us.

Redden has been fine every since Torts took over.....why would we want to get rid of him?

I'm pretty sure they haven't done that. Brooks reported that MONDAY, not today, and Gross debunked the story later that day.

So, I'm almost positive, unless something did change today, that Drury is not on IR.

In fact, looking at that blog, his source is the erroneous Brooks report. Chris Drury is NOT on IR, at present.

Well, Fly, a lot of people who post on here don't watch the games. They just like to hate Redden because it was the "cool" thing to do last year.

It's not even in style to hate Redden anymore. So not only are they talking blind, but so last year.

Well if nothing else and we don't replace Drury or Dubinsky right away I 'think' we still save some cap space which may come in handy at the deadline. It might mean the difference between adding a good player or not.

Redden has been pretty damn good. Wouldnt mind losing the contract though.

Yep. He did get outbattled on the winning goal though (I'm not laying that on Gilroy) but he's been a lot better. Even so...he's not worth nearly what he's making now and what's he going to be worth 4 years from now. If we can get a decent return--whatever and whenever that is we've got to move him.

If Drury retires, hypothetically speaking, Sather will be bailed out of this mess he created BIG time.

ALl we would need to do then is trade Rozsival, which is definitely do-able. I actually like Redden's play of late and I don't mind him staying here for now.

I hear you man. It's getting tiresome having to explain why he isn't terrible.

If Drury retires? WOW. Talk about stretching this just a little bit...

I think it's more likely that Drury leads this team to a cup than him retiring from this concussion...and option A isn't very likely...

Plus, I'd rather us waive/trade/put him in Hartford than him have to retire from a bad injury to "bail Sather out"....

Right.... Drury won't ever lead us to a cup. The only great thing he can do for this team is ... leave and take that cap hit with him. The guy has regressed big time.

I feel like Drury's full no movement clause comes up in EVERY thread yet somehow there are some people that still dont get it.

I know he wasnt putting up points but I just watched the second fan forum and it is weird that Cally again said how great of a leader Drury is. Seems like everything we hear coming from within the locker room is that he is a great leader. I am sure he can help this team that way.
