All-Star Game / Entry Draft

When was the last time that Edmonton hosted an all-star game?

1989 for the All-Star game
1995 for the Entry draft

Shouldn't Edmonton be getting some love and hosting 1 of the 2 events soon? Sure would be nice

probably won't happen until they get a new arena. then, hopefully an all star game will follow.

This was my thought on an all-star game. But why can't we hold the entry draft? Speaking of which where is the 2010 entry draft?

I don't know how they decide these things, but if every team hosted one year before any team repeated, then it would be 30 years before they hosted again.

That would put us around 2019 for the Allstar game and 2025 for the draft.

Of course, I don't think they just rotate through the teams, but if we're "due" after 14-20 years, then that means there are still teams that have been waiting longer or haven't done it at all.

I doubt Edmonton would get an all-star game for a while considering they generally try to put it in warm weather locations with the exception of Toronto and Minnesota's all-star games. The Draft on the other hand could come here.

The NHL has no rhyme or reason to their special event delegations- they simply play favorites.

Entry Draft:

Montreal- 1986, 1988, 1992, 2009
Ottawa- 2005, 2008
Toronto- 1985, 2002

Ottawa was granted the 2nd one because the 2005 wasn't in front of the crowd. That was the stupid Lockout hotel banquet hall draft if i remember correctly

That's funny. I was curious why Ottawa got it two years so close together.

I know, but it was dumb that they got granted a second one. A Draft is a Draft.
