This can't possibly be for very long... aka the first game this is tried out will be the last, and it will last MAYBE three shifts.

Secondly, I'm sure this isn't a shocker for Lisin - he's accustomed to fourth line duty most of his career, no?

All kidding aside, though -- the line shuffling is bound to get weird sooner or later. This ... this move is baffling, for sure.

Now we're ready to contend.

In all seriousness, Tortorella's random and nonsensical line changes such as this one lead me to believe that his personal grudges are really the only thing behind it.

Maybe the "Renney Line Generator" needs to be renamed "Line Generator for The Current Coach of The NY Rangers."

Swapping out people on lines the way I see it is that hes just hoping that something will work. At some point chemistry is bound to be found no?

Lisin has a broken bone in his foot, might have something to do with it.

This is shades of Jeff Toms playing on the top line a decade ago.

Well, I get the need to shake things up, I do...but I don't think this is going to generate much of anything positive. Hope I'm wrong.

I'd waive Voros, bring back Byers, bench one of the defenseman (Rosie?) and call up Sauer or Sanguinetti.

That's terrible.

I hate Lisin's guts, and that is still .. terrible.

Temporarily yes it's possible, but in the end he's just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

honestly....brashear brings about as much to the team as lisin does when looked as a whole...i have no problem with this move (thats how little i think of what Lisin has done as a whole)

Id take lisin with one foot with 3 missing toes, a bad back, post concussion syndrome and no pinkies before i even considered giving brashear a second more than he's getting now. this is just beyond stupid, even for torts.
Well at least itll make the guy in the section next to me happy, he's the ONLY person ive seen with a brashear jersey, itll make his year.

And I agree with you. But Brashear is absolutely abysmal. It's a whole different world when comparing the two. Lisin hasn't done much... but he's light years ahead of Brashear in both creating chances and having the ability to finish chances. With a team struggling to score goals, this move is clear cut stupid.

I think you gotta wait until the actual game to see what the lines are...like someone said, Lisin's broken foot may have more to do with this than the coach coming up with usable line combos

aside from the fact that it's just practice, lisin has a broken bone in his foot and mentioned something about it to the media the other day.

maybe torts is trying to give him shorter minutes because of that?

What grudges? He gave Lisin all the opportunity in the world over the last dozen games, including 1st line and PP time.

And can we PLEASE stop overreacting every time the lines are shuffled? Notice how lines generally tend to stay the same when the team is winning / playing well, but when the team is losing and struggling to score, that's when a coach should be shuffling.

Its practice. Lisin has a broken foot.

I wouldnt read too much into it.

But hey - its not like hes actually doing anything to warrant top time is he?

We are talking about the third line...

And if Lisin hasn't done enough to warrant 3rd line minutes, then Callahan should be a scratch. That's how little Callahan has done.

Lisin hasn't done ****. Hopefully this will be his wakeup call.

He needs to start producing. He's had so many chances and he always shoots it wide. At least put it on net!!!

Lisin is playing with a broken bone in his foot. Lisin has an easier time skating than walking. Cut the guy some slack.

I hope for JT's sake that this was just a Practice Scenario and nothing else.
Brashear has been more of a detriment out there even when just getting 5 minutes. Imagine 10... Jesus.

We'll see tommorow...

There is no way in hell moving Brashear up a line and giving him more ice time is going to improve this team.
None, 0%.
If this move was made with that hope in mind then Torts is truly desperate and starting to panic.

exactly the kid has shown heart, which is more than can be said for most of this team. that being said, he doesnt have the finish to be a first line player. It was a stretch at best but theres no way on gods green earth he should be overlooked for brashear. Hopefully it was just one of Tort's practice mind games, if that line sees the ice i would anticipate a hearty amount of boo's instantly.
