Do we finally have a second line?

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Kostitsyn

The two wingers are really starting to impress me. Kostitsyn has 4 points in his last 3 games, and Pacioretty really looks like he's taking off. You can see he's gaining in confidence, and his play making abilities and creativity with the puck are really starting to show. I think if the two wingers can keep it up, then we have a pretty decent second line, and suddenly our team doesn't look that bad, especially when our crippled come back.

Plus we have D'Agostini who was just starting to play better when he got injured.

Cammalleri - Gomez - Gionta
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Pyatt - Metropolit - Moen
Latendresse - Lapierre - D'Agostini/White/Chipchura

Markov - O'Byrne
Hamrlik - Spacek
Gorges - Mara

The bad part: with this lineup, bye bye Taylor/Tyler

I'd prefer to keep Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kostitsyn together. Cammalleri is our best winger, Plekanec is our best centre, and Kostitsyn should be able to complement them both nicely.

We still desperately need another skilled forward to play with Gomez and Gionta though.

Yeah, why do you post this now when Cammalleri Plekanec and Kostitsyn are clicking? I read the post and looked at the date cause it would have only made sense a week ago.

For the last two games before DET, the three I'm talking about played very well together.

I'd also like to see Cammalleri play with Plekanec, but that only happened last night because BOTH Gomez and Gionta were injured.

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kostitsyn are NOT a good second line at all.

They're a good first line. Which is what they are right now.

Yes, I would agree that the 2nd line is back. Pleks is imo, one of the elite centers in the league. The guy does everything; produces offensively, a PK specialist, a shutdown artist.

He has taken upon himself this season to lead by example rather than sit back and play a supporting role. Hence, we see someone like Andrei Kostitsyn gain loads of confidence in his own abilities, which are truly formidable, with a little encouragement from Pleks. Like Pleks said a few games back, Andrei doesn't respond when being yelled at, those times are when his good points need reinforcing. Pleks faith in AK46's abilities are being repaid with interest now. And kudos to JM for allowing Pleks to take a leadership role in this team.

As for AK, since he has stopped focusing on getting a shot on net in an attempt to get goals, and looks for the set up pass instead, the 2nd line has really started producing. I disagree with those who think AK is primarily a shooter and has no vision. He has lots of vision, but needs players around him that can handle his nasty fast laser passes. Guys like Pleks and Cammy.

Indeed. I would like to see Gionta-Gomez-Pacioretty when the latter two are healthy. This could be a great second line.
