I don't have any problems with the lines tonight, we are missing 2 regulars and haven't played too well in the last 3 so a little shakeup makes some sense. I feel like our top 6 is fairly interchangeable in terms of who they are playing with

Yeah, I know. But they're stealing streams from myp2p without giving credit where credit is due.
I don't care though, it's free and good quality.

When was the last time Giroux played on a line with Carter?

I didn't say it was all bad news - read what I said and get back to me. Or don't.
Sorry, but you implied this was some big shakeup that could result in guys who don't know each other playing together. It's not.

Carter has played on the PP with Giroux, and they've played together in 4-on-4 situations and on the PK too. They aren't strangers.

JVR played with Richards in on Ex. game, IIRC, but that is the only case.

The whole point of switching Carter and Richards, I suspect, is that it gets Carter back with Hartnell, and given how well Carter's played with Briere, it puts him with a shifty playmaker in Giroux too.

It also reunites Briere and Richards, I'm sure they'll let JVR touch the puck.

Furthermore, given Stevens' record on these kind of tinkerings, if the new lines don't click early, or if we get behind, he can revert to the old lines instantly.

They need to have around or near 8-10 mins each... which they wont get cause Stevens wont play them that much. This is unless you want to run out our top forwards. Plus those 3 dont pk so now we are going to use Richards and Carter more on the pk .

Its a pretty big shakeup since half these players are rookies and some havent played on the same line before. Richards played with Briere and JVR maybe a handful of times. Giroux has never played with Carter. Pyorala played a period centering Lappy and Carcillo. Its a big chance...
Uh, you might want to check the last game. Giroux played RW with Richards and Hartnell vs. Coyotes. Pyorala moved up from 4C to 3C between Carcillo and Lappy and looked very good. Would putting Ross between Carc and Lappy be better?

The ONLY change in this whole lineup that is not necessitated injuries is flipping Carter and Richards, which can be reversed by the third shift if it's not going well.

Sorry, but losing two of your regular PK guys, Betts and Powe, means that Carter and Richards will have to do more PK, or let Hartnell and Giroux do more. They don't have a lot of choices. Ross and Nodl are both capable of filling in on the PK if necessary too.

And playing three Phantoms more than 5 minutes would be nice if they prove up to it.

I call flipping your 1aC with your 1bC a very minor shakeup. Esp. given that it reunites Carter/Hartnell and Richards/Briere.

Injuries happen. Your team needs to be able to adjust and move the pieces around as needed.

I'd like to see the callups get some quality minutes as well. They can get into a much better flow if they are getting some regular shifts. I actually kinda like that the 3 callups are all on the same line. They'll certainly be trying hard to impress. Who knows, they might just spark us. I know Vancouver played quite well when their entire 3rd and 4th lines were callups.

Quotes from Holmgren:

http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/landi...722&feedID=695

Quote:

Regardless, Stevens has to survive the next 4-6 weeks with this group, because Holmgren says it’s unlikely he’ll make a trade.

“We’ve got lots of cap room because of long-term injury money (Gagne), but when players get healthy, it becomes a different story,” Holmgren said. “We’re always looking to improve our hockey team, but sometimes, your hands are tied.”
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/..._injuries.html

Quote:
Holmgren was upset with the team's 3-1 loss on Phoenix's poor ice Saturday, a game in which former Coyote Dan Carcillo (seven hits, three shots on goal) and Scott Hartnell (goal, four shots) were among the few Flyers who had much jump.

"I was not pleased at all with the effort," Holmgren said. "It's a tough league. There's no team you can look at and say it's an automatic two points, and if you don't put forth the effort, you won't beat anyone. . . . We have to dig a little harder."

Those are obvious signs to the apocalypse. The last sign is re-signing Randy Jones next season. Then all you have to do is sit back, relax, and wait for the earth to explode in 2012.

I love games where you have to figure out which team is going to suck less.

I'm pretty sure Ryan Parent scoring would be the third sign

Ship needs righting. SJ is brutal, and PHX has been playing well, and back to back made it harder, but this team needs to play up to its ability, injuries or no.

If there is a sensationalist sports network when it comes to hockey at least, it would be Altitude. Those guys man.....they're a hoot. I can't listen to it though.
