I know its early but as a huge Steve Bernier fan, I have also become a wildcat's fan. Currently Moncton is tops in the Q and London is tops in the OHL and clearly the team to beat this year.
I was curiose of what chance they had in a potential momorial cup match up.
Moncton has the following going for them:
the best goelie in the league
Awsome top 4 forwards in Bernier, Karsums, Pinault, and Grahm
Very good defence lead by Nathan Saunders and Oscar Bartulis
Are their trio of power forwards and wall in net enough to get by London?
One thing about the Mem Cup tourney is that you might only have to win 1 game against London. In a 1-game showdown, anything can happen, any of the top CHL teams could beat any of the others in 1 game.
With London, I'm still not convinced that their defense and goaltending is really strong, so if you managed to actually keep pressure on them down low with those PFs, sure, I could see a team like Moncton beating them in 1 game. And I could definitely imagine Crawford outduelling Coleman. It could be done (not saying that it will be or that it's likely, though). Winning the Q will be a bigger challenge than winning the Mem Cup.

Moncton does not have a good defence. Saunders has been one of the better guys in the league thus far, and Bartulis is solid but still makes a number of mistakes.
Beyond that, they really don't have anything outstanding. Hepditch, Veilleux, Adam, Blanchette, Tanguay, and Demers aren't much at all. If Adam were 3 inches taller he would be worthy of a late round pick, but at an extremely generous 5'11", he's just not big enough.
The thing with Moncton is nobody knows what they're going to do. I don't even think that the organization does. Are they going to deal away players now to ensure themselves the Memorial Cup? I don't think they expected to be doing SO well this season. It occurs that Crawford and maybe even one of the top forwards was on teh chopping block before this season began as a guy to be moved to bolster the squad for next year.
Now that they're one of the top teams in the league they don't know what to do, I don't think. They want to deal Crawford, it seems, in order to get JC Blanchard into more games, but who knows.
In one word, YES. But the Knights have already bought their way into the dance, and Moncton has to do something London has never done, and earn their way in this year. In otherwords, Moncton has to get to the Memroial Cup before we can say if they can beat anybody.
As Blind Gardien said, it can be a 1 game show down, and anything can happen. The Knights will win one of their round robin games and sneak their way into the semis, only to lose there. Which team they beat is up in the air now.
With the way the Knights are playing, they still are trying to earn their way to the cup. They could have easily sat back and coasted through the season and picked it up towards the playoffs.
Obviously I'm a huge Knights fan as you can tell by my Avatar, but I am glad they are still trying to earn their way there

Get your ugly face off this board if all you wanna do is make fun of the Knights for hosting the tourney. Would you be all over Kitchener or Barrie if they won the rights to host the mem cup. The Knights EARNED the right to host the tourney by being #1 in the CHL last year with the majority of there players coming back this year. They had the best all around bid (team, city and arena) and just to prove idiots like you wrong they are trying to earn there way to the cup ..... oh and I think going 25-0-1 is a pretty good start don't you?
I agree. SOMEBODY has to host the tournament, and frankly, the Knights are proving they were teh smartest choice because they are clearly the best team in the CHL right now. All they are doing is proving that the CHL made the right choice by selecting them.
I heard this week that Rimouski and Moncton are working a deal that would send Crosby over to Moncton. If Moncton gets him then I can see them go toe to toe with the London Knights.
I'm sorry but there is nothing to suggest that is remotely true.
Any deal the Wildcats make, from my indications from the organization, will be them dealing for NEXT year because they're trying to host the Memorial Cup. Crosby won't be in the Q next year so he's useless to them and he'll cost too many future assets to make any sense for the organization.

:lol :lol you're pathetic........truly! When we win the OHL championship, then we earned the right to be in it, and this city has paid it's hockey dues, we deserve this tournament, go suck a lemon.

Well, those two teams have actually won the OHL Championship in during their time in the league, unlike London. Without having ever earned their right to play for the Memorial Cup by winning the OHL, the Knights bought their way in with a fancy new tax payer funded arena. Try to remember that next time you embarass yourself.

#1 last year???? Wait a minute, was I dreaming when I watched the Kelowna Rockets hoist the Memorial Cup over their heads? See kiddo, the team that wins the CHL Championship, is the #1 team the the CHL. Not the team that got bounced in the 3rd round by a team who went winless at the dance.
Getting your history and facts straight might help prevent you looking like a moron.

So you are saying with this team in the old barn, they would still be hosting the event?
Do you believe that if the new arena was built but the team was half as good, then they wouldn't have a chance to host?
Admit it, without the JLC, the Mem Cup would be somewhere else this year. You bought it. Just admit it and try not to further reduce the respect other teams have for you.

Didn't you guys brag about how well last years regular season went? Yep, how about we wait and see the Knights get past the 2nd round before getting too worked up over the part of the year that means jack all in the grand scheme of things.

Too bad you couldn't do that atleast ONCE in your 40 year history. Instead, without ONE single OHL Championship, you are already going to the Memorial Cup. Yep, that seems fair for all the other teams who have a long history of success, just not a $50 million arena.

Being a loser for 40 years is not paying your dues.

Someone is really bitter :lol say all you want, but you're still a tool.

Great response!! Keep showing how little you know by avoiding the statments.
Just to let you know, I was born and raised in Kamloops. You really honestly believe I would be jealous of another team with the history the Blazers have? Let's wait and see if the Knights can win 1 Memorial Cup before I start worring about matching the 3 in a row the Blazers won in the 90's. In half the time, Kamloops has a ton more Championships (oh wait, the Knights have NONE!!!!) then "your" team.
Bitter ain't the word to describe me, but stupid would be a good start in describing you.

Kamloops has produced better players, their teams that have won the Memorial Cup have been phenomenal. This is the first time the Knights have had a powerhouse, and they will win the OHL crown, and the Memorial Cup.
