What does it mean? Wasnt he on a two week conditoning stint?
Honestly, if this is Canadiens way of trying to let him go I think they are doing a bad mistake.

He's a dime a dozen player. Was actually a liability on the ice a few times this year.

Pyatt, White, etc.. make him easily expendable. but he cleared so he better get used to the diesel buses and fast food.

Pretty sure they just want him with the Dogs since he sucked this year.

So he'll stay in the AHL for more than his 2 weeks of conditioning... barring more injuries.

Oh waived. Nevermind then, read it wrong.
Guess he's back with the farm team. Good, I think he will get alot more ice time there than he would with the big team.. so prologne the stint.

That's good that he cleared. He still has work to do before being able to be a NHL player (if ever he's going to be one...).

Not surprised he cleared but I wonder if he would make it back through re entry?
Not like he will get called back up anyways.

I'm not sure, but I don't think he needs to pass through re-entry.

He makes 105 K in the AHL, he's not eligible for them.

http://www.nhlscap.com/waivers.htm

Re-entry waivers – new to this CBA is the provision that certain players recalled to the NHL must clear waivers to join the team holding his NHL rights; any other team may claim said player for 50% of his cap hit and salary, with the team attempting to recall taking the other 50% of each. In general, players are not subject to re-entry [recall] waivers unless:

The player is on a -way contract and is subject to waivers when assigned to the minors; or
The player is on a 2-way contract whose minor league salary is in excess of
2007-08: $100,000
2008-09: $100,000
2009-10: $105,000
2010-11: $105,000
2011-12: $105,000

Really not surprised. Quite a few other players have passed him on the depth chart. When the season began i thought he was a definite on the 4th line but, like other guys, he didn't put the work and has paid the price.

What a big surprise,he will most likely stay in Hamilton all year and probably be his last year in this organization since he doesn't have a contract after this season

Cool, Coach Boucher had a Stewart-Conboy-Neilson line out there at times last game, was fun to watch. Stewart and Conboy both hit a moose player at the same time into the boards. With these 3 you are getting a good heavy weight (neilson) and one of the best middle weights in stewart) plus a big body in Conboy that will drop the gloves. Hopefully Stewart can find his game and get back on track.

What the hell happened to the Greg Stewart who mugged Steve Ott against the Stars last year when Ott was hitting Koivu/Kostitsyn? I was at the game in Dallas and that beatdown turned the momentum and allowed the habs to win. (Damn it can't find a youtube, but that was awesome.)

This is the player Stewart has to be to stick in the NHL.

Thanks for posting this.

This is exactly what Stewart has to do to stick in the NHL. Stick up for his teammates, he's a decent(not great) fighter, he doesn't need to fight the heavyweights, but if he can be a middleweight who can take care of the shift-disturbers like the Otts, Averys, etc, he can be useful.

clearly the org have enough of those kids thinking they are arrived and have nothing more to prove.. he didnt like his attitude at the camp and he did nothing to help himself..

1st signifiant move: Sergei starting the year in the AHL..

2nd signifiant move: Lats traded away

and then Stewart waived.. it says all, Gainey's patience reached its limit! This team wont be a country club anymore, you will see a competitive team working hard every games.
