Wow.

Is is April 1st already?

Briere and Giroux fighting, now one of them is getting suspended? What happens to players when they come to play in Philly.

He crosschecked a player in the back of the neck after a goal and injured him. I mean, let's be honest here...

This was right after Hannan scored last night, Briere hit him high and I guess his stick was there. It's on youtube, but I didn't think of it enough to keep reviewing it or post the link elsewhere, so I guess there must be something else out there.

****

well, the Flyers lines for Wed (if Hartnell and Timonen are out) are even MORE pathetic now.

JVR-Richards-Pyorala
Maroon-Carter-Giroux
Carcillo-Ross-Lappy
Laliberte-Kalinski-Nodl
Cote

Carle-Pronger
Coburn-Parent
Syvret-Bartulis

I think I just threw up. Let's go Hartnell and Timonen, get well soon (like today)

Injuries
Gagne - LTIR
Hartnell- ?? hand ??
Timonen - left game early last night
Briere - suspended
Betts - Shoulder
Asham - IR
Powe - Shoulder
Tolleffsen - meh, he blows anyway, Bartulis rocks

Flyers all-injured/suspended lines
Gagne-Briere-Hartnell
Powe-Betts-Asham

Timonen-Tolleffsen

Eh, it probably warranted a game or two, but it still leaves a lot of consistency to be desired.

Congrats to getting yourself suspended. Had a feeling it would happen when I saw the play...

If it's a suspension, then it's a suspension. But how is it not a penalty on the ice then. It's not like it wasn't obvious, he hit a guy who just scored a goal.

Whaaa?

I must be missing something or need to see another angle, 'cuz as far as I can tell it was just a late hit. If it weren't for the fact that it was a half a second late, it would've been perfectly clean. And a clean hit that's late is not the kind of something you suspend someone for...maybe a 2 minute penalty(which he wasn't even given), but that's it. Again, I guess I need to see another angle or something if this suspension actually is justifiable.

And I remember when it actually happened they did show a replay from another angle...and I don't remember thinking there was any big deal except that it was late. I wish I could see that replay again though...it's not included in that vid above.

Because the NHL refs are morons? You remember the same guys didn't kick Perry out last season when he quite deliberately elbowed Giroux in the head and he got away with a double minor rather than 5 and a game and was suspended for four games.

This is the image from the mainboard thread:

Still frame, but whatever. Not going to complain. High hit, stick in the face and feet off the ice.

Two goals, two assists, two game suspension. I dub thee "Briere Hex-Trick".

Briere had 4 points in the game, decided that was about 3 or 4 games worth of points, and then cross checked Hannan in the throat so he could relax a few days.

All a part of Briere's master plan.

You can't go by still-shots though. That's not how the game is played, so it's not how plays should be reviewed. People did the same thing with Richards hitting Booth, as irrefutable evidence that he should be banned from the league

Wow, well that stick in his face is pretty damn incriminating indeed. As far as his feet, they could've wound up like that after the impact. Either way, handing him 2 games just for getting that stick in his face wouldn't be the worst decision I've ever heard.

I also agree that you can't really use stills, though. I'd like to see another angle on video.

Actually Danny Boy scored a goal and an assist after the crosscheck. He even got third star :X

There`s no way it`s clean. First off, it was a head check, second, he jumped into it (all this on top of being late). Sure it should have been called on the ice, but since refs are human I`ll accept that they can`t see everything and it could very well be that none of them saw it happen.
