His shoes are huge to fill. It has been, for the past 7 years, and continues to be an honor to replace him.
He will be back on Saturday.
Until next time,

While you've been doing a really good job so far, I miss his voice. I guess it's the same thing when René Lecavalier retired, how people were used to his tone of voice.
I dunno if that's the real announcer or not, but I was at the Red wings game the other night, and each time Akost was announced, they called him number 36.

Tough act to follow, but you're doing exceptionally well. I enjoyed your work Saturday. Imagine how hard it was the replace Claude Mouton in 1993 when he passed away en route to our Cup run!

It actually was Marcel Bélanger (who had been the backup for so many years before I came in, back in 2002) that worked the '93 playoffs after Mr. Mouton passed away.
Mr. Bélanger had also worked the infamous 1984 Good Friday Brawl game.
Michel came back as regular announcer for the 1993-1994 season.
You're doing a great job by the way, nothing but respect for you. I especially liked the way you said Cammalleri, throwing a little rolling r, italian style in there. Keep it up!
marinaro said he was on vacation and will be back for the caps game. who the hell goes on vacation during the season? what kind of wild animal takes in season breaks?
I've noticed too.. the game doesn't sound as epic but am I the only one (for real in this case) who thinks it was time for a change? I dont want to be mean but he couldn't pronounce english names for nothing.
I love the slight accent in pronouncing English names. Claude Mouton did the same too and it only adds character/flavor to our home ice advantage. I hope the Habs never get a perfectly bilingual announcer-- it makes the experience that much more authentic.
My favorite announcement back in the day was: Le but du Canadien marque par numero 26, Canadiens goal scored by number 26, Mats Nassslloooooooonnnnd. Loved it every time.

Welcome to the Habs board Goulz. I can't imagine how intimidating it must be to fill in for Lacroix. In my humble opinion, you're doing an excellent job, keep up the good work.
This isnt the first time that Lacroix has not been the announcer at a Habs game. He does it atleast two times a year I think, I remeber he did it last time and some pre-season games.
Man, taking a vacation in the season.. that is pimp.
I know this is kindof random, but am I the only one who noticed that Michel Lacroix hasn't been the announcer at the Bell Centre for the last 2 games? Anyone know what happened to him? I haven't gone to any games lately but it wouldn't feel like a habs game without his epic voice...
