What would it take to get Bobby Ryan?

Contract talks with him and Anaheim have broken off and he might be trade bait or someone may offer him a ''sheet'' come the summer.

He's a 6'2'', 218 pound right wing player that had 31 goals and 57 points in 64 games last season!

If we land him, we have 3 of the top 5 picks from the 2005 NHL entry draft.

- Ryan
- Pouliot
- Price

I can see a top six of:

Pacioretty - Leblanc - Ryan
Pouliot - Maxwell - Kristo

B. Ryan
JS Giguere

FOR

2nd round pick
the K. Brothers
Halak

They dump salary with Giguere (+1 for them)
We Gain his salary (-1 for us)

We gain Ryan (+1 for us)
they get a 2nd round + the Bros (even)

Absurd.

This topic is a non-starter. There's nothing Anaheim would want from Montreal for him.

Talk is Ryan wants Versteeg money or more. Where's the cap room supposed to come from? Giguere and Ryan likely don't work as a package deal to any team, unless there's serious money coming back the other way.

But if Ryan is on the block....

Murray will NEVER do this, Ryan might score 40 to 50 goals one day (maybe even 40 this season).

Giguere already mentioned he didn't want to be a back up and he wouldn't play much here with Price.

It's going to get something nice in order to get Ryan, not sure we have the prospects they would want but I'm pretty sure they would want Subban and a couple of 1st like the Bruins got for Kessel

Well, everyone has a price. If Montreal offered Subban and three first round picks, to make an absurd example, then Anaheim would jump, I think.

Thing about Ryan is he has had a pretty hard road coming up as a #2 overall pick in Anaheim, they didn't exactly give him the Guillaume treatment. It might be a Kessel situation where the player's worth the money he wants on the market, but the team wants to use it elsewhere.

An offer sheet would be great, the kid is amazing and big. If we had to trade for him we would be starting with Pleks or several 1st rounders. They wont let this kid go for anything short of overpayment.

Subban, D'agostini and a first.

Subban, Gorges and a first.

Subban, whatever and a first.

I think Subban will be a Habs and will never get traded unless he leaves as an UFA.

I would propose:

To Anaheim:

Lapierre + O'Byrne + Pacioretty

To Montreal:

Ryan

And how many goals would Andrei score playing with Getzlaf and Perry?

Giguire has a NTC and wants to stay on the west coast for family reasons

Getting there but O'Byrne is to hard to replace on the right side IMO.

" Subban will be a Habs and will never get traded "
By the way, dont you think they have the same feeling torward Ryan?

Why would Anaheim jump at that? Ryan would bring Montreal to be at least a consistent playoff team. That means three mid-first rounders and Subban. Chances of any of those 1st rounders being valuable contributors, much less star players, is less than 50%. Anaheim would do this only if they were having contract troubles with Ryan.

To do this sort of deal it'd set Anaheim back. Ryan fits their core with Perry & Getzlaf & potentially Lupul.

I reiterate that there is really nothing Montreal could do to get Ryan unless they were to offer up 5 first rounders, Price and Markov, while taking on salary like Giguere in return. Keeping things realistic, there's nothing. And I say this not because I believe Ryan is a superstar, but because he fits precisely what Anaheim wants: big, fast, physical, goal-scoring and of the exact age-range they want. Dealing core components that fit the precise mold a team is attempting to identify its culture as is counter productive.

I wish it can happen but I doubt it would, since Chiarelli got two 1st round draft picks and a 2nd round draft pick for Kessel, Ryan can probably get the same if not more.

Again... only reason Kessel was dealt is because he didn't truly fit what the B's were building & he wanted more money than they could afford. To buy a player of their calibre who actually fits what a team is looking for... it's a non-starter. Might as well start threads with proposals for Malkin, Datsyuk, et al.

Nonesense,

MaxPac + AK + SK + 1st would do it... even a bit too much....

(ps. If they truly want to trade him and aren't dead set on him as part of their future)
