I'm actually surprised they never went with frolov Lokti Purcell.
if there are two players that are similar here they are Lokti and Purcell. Frolov hasn't been ever tried with teddy this year so I thought it was finally gonna happen.
We'll see how these lines work. I just hope that Murray doesn't mess with the first line and leaves it as the first linePP so the trio can gain confidence handling the puck with less pressure.
Great way to get this line going 5 on 5 also...Or any line for that matter
Maybe because both Frolov and Purcell don't have a shoot-first mentality? They're both known more for their puck distributing rather than shooting. I don't see how they'd work well together. Keep in mind that they're not the fastest skaters either.
We are all so focused on Purcell and Loki, we are forgetting to mention this is the first time a while that Frolov will play with Brown again. When was the last time that happened? Hopefully Frolov will possess the puck enough to keep Brown away from it. Perhaps he will even go to the front of the net! (I can dream)
Uncle Fro?

Tuesday’s line changes were certainly, in part, motivated by a desire to see if Teddy Purcell can get going, but they were also clearly designed to help Andrei Loktionov feel more comfortable by pairing him with Russian countryman Alexander Frolov. The joke at practice today was that their third linemate is going to have to start going by the name Dustin Brownov…
Asked about that shift, Terry Murray said, “Fro is the one I moved down to play with Loktionov, just to help out with some communication. Maybe I’m trying to put a little more responsibility on Fro’s shoulders.”
It’s an interesting theory. Given that part of Murray’s problem with Frolov early in the season was a question of whether Frolov was “buying in” to the team, perhaps having a certain sense of responsibility for the 19-year-old Loktionov might be a good thing for Frolov.
After practice Tuesday, Frolov served as an interpreter for Loktionov, even though Loktionov’s English is improving. Loktionov will wear No. 48 with the Kings.
Question: What was the reaction to getting the call about coming to the NHL?
FROLOV: “He said he was pretty happy about it, when he had a talk with Dean after the game and he told him he’s going to play here and that he’s playing good and he’s going to play here for a while.”
Question: What did Dean say about what he expects?
FROLOV: “He just said to keep playing well. He’s been playing good in Manchester and to just keep going the same way and try to do the same thing here.”
Question: Will the two of you playing together help him on the ice?
FROLOV: (Without asking Loktionov the question) “Absolutely.” (laughs)
Question: And who’s going to teach Dustin Brown to speak Russian?
FROLOV: (laughs) “I will.”
Question: Do you feel like you’re ready for the NHL?
LOKTIONOV: (smiles) “We’ll see.”
Question: What was the main difference between playing in junior and playing in the AHL?
FROLOV: “It’s more with the size. People are bigger and more mature probably. It’s more intense and it’s more speedy, kind of, and you have less time to make a decision. Everything is quicker.”
Absolutely awesome.
I expected something like this to happen, with Fro helping him out and translating for him as well
I believe I read something from Voynov as well, saying how Fro introduced him to his friends and stuff like that.
I hope Dean can value stuff like this as well: buying in to the team...

Koci is like an Ivanans, so maybe it's a dumb move for them, they think they need an overweight player...that doesn't mean Hensick can't produce...time will tell though
i'm just saying we can take a chance on him, or let another team grab him and pot 25 goals for them lol

they played together for what, two games this season? before Smyth went down, i was crying about Brown on the top pp unit and felt he should be on the second unit with Frolov.
Fro / Loktionov / Brown played together against the Sharks in Ontario during camp and looked pretty good... well, Brown didn't show up until about the last 5 minutes of that game and bagged the tying goal with a few seconds left of the clock on a couple of great passes by the other two.

true. he's got the talent though, and it certainly wouldn't hurt Lombardi to kick the tires if he falls that far. he's only got this year remaining on his deal.
Hensick's problem this year outside of the fact that he's been unable to really adapt physically at 23/24-years old, is Ryan O'Reilly's nice start now makes two centers to leap ahead of him on the depth chart... and they're both well younger.
and with Stastny and Duchene as Colorado's probable 1-2 up the middle for the next 7-10 years, O'Reilly is likely a bit better suited to center that #3 line than T.J. is... at least for the next couple of seasons.
Hensick was sick at Michigan. I really haven't payed much attention to him at the NHL level but the kid has good hands and he is very fast. I also think that Dean should take a long look at him if he falls to us.
I recall the comparisons T.J. Hensick drew to Chris Drury. Perhaps he could turn out like Ray Whitney, smallish player with great offensive talent who was waived from Edmonton, claimed by Florida and his career took off from there.
