Brayden Schenn joins Kings!

http://lakingsinsider.com/

The Kings have signed center Brayden Schenn to a one-game amateur tryout agreement. Schenn is at the arena in Vancouver right now and is expected to play for the Kings tonight.

Holy shnikeys! That's a... creative solution to our center problem.

Desparate times...

I can just imagine the scowl on Dean's face as he signed the paperwork.

If it can buy us a couple of days for Stoll to get back... it's a very creative stop-gap solution. If Stoll can play tonight, Schenn may not get much ice time.

Regardless, there's one VERY happy Schenn brother right now!

Ok CBA experts, I'm assuming since he has been signed to a one game amateur tryout that he can be sent right back to his junior team after the game, right?

While I am excited, this Thanksgiving dinner dish needs more Clifford.

So who did Schenn play with during the exhibition season? I assume we're expecting that he'll just center the Brown-Frolov line?

I've never seen him play, I'm really looking forward to it.

In preseason his line was mostly Clifford-Schenn-Brown.

wow - didn't see this coming. Actually, I didn't even know it was possible. I thought once he was sent back to junior, he was there for the season.

Very creative maneuvering by Lomabardi. Schenn better not fall under the same curse that has befallen some others around the organization. I am sure the kid is excited though.

Quisp posted this on Rich's blog re: ATO's:

"In consideration of the opportunity to play in the NHL, the player agrees to present himself, upon request of the Club to perform services as a player on [DATE] at [LOCATION]. This agreement shall be valid for a term of one (1) day, and a Club shall only be permitted to enter into such an agreement when under emergency conditions. Under this agreement, the player shall receive no salary, bonus (of any kind) or any other form of compensation."

He'd have to sign a NHL contract after this one game ATO if DL wants him to continue playing in the NHL, but then he could still be returned to juniors before his 10th game without the first year of his contract kicking in.

Tonight is literally a freebie for DL.

Why would Schenn agree to play for free?

Isn't he taking a bit of a risk in doing this for us?

Not a single person on these boards would hesitate for a second to play in an NHL game regardless if it were free I am sure any one of our prospect would. Plus it is not like he can continue playing for free past this game. The organization is asking it as a favor.

I am not particularly superstitious. I am sure our tougher players and management has been alerted to the situation the team is in with these injuries. We need to have a stiffer stance on hits against and we need to offer more protection for the guys out there. I expect Ivanans to have twitchy gloves if he wants to be of use.

I dunno. If Lombardi signed me & said, "OK - you got in the 1st period on a face-off, fight Laraque, then you're done - head the dressing room." I'm not sure I'd really want to.

But I'm sure Schenn is happy to be playing.

Chance of a lifetime I wouldn't hesitate for a second to don the colors and take someone off the ice for the team.

I'd do it. But before Laraque, I'd punch Cammalleri square in the face.

I wondered about this in the last GDT as Brayden Schenn was already in Victoria, BC, playing in the "subway super series"

It can't hurt Brayden, unless he gets injured, he's on fire right now, playing with a lot of confidence.
