I'm almost ready to hope for a dive. I know some say a true fan always wants to see their team win, but that's just it - I do want to see this team win, really badly, but the current roster isn't going to cut it. There are some good pieces on this team, solid young players and good prospects, but a Taylor Hall would be that solid foundation to begin building a good team. It's been too long since we've had an elite player. Suck for 1 more year, worse than ever, and we could be set up for a decade+ of a good team. The city deserves a team that they can get behind. I'm sick of seeing the good, hard-working people of Edmonton blow their money on this BS.

I hope people realize that this team does not have a chance to get Taylor Hall. They are no where near bad enough to get that chance.

I voted other because two things need to happen. A major trade involving our current leadership, for better leadership/talent coming back this way. Also, this team has to pick it up. Enough excuses. Excuses are for losers.

Aren't they in the lottery right now? As it stands I can easily see St. Louis and Anaheim pulling ahead as the season goes on, and a lengthy injury to Khabby throws us right in the mix for the 1st pick.

I went with "don't care anymore." I'll still cheer for them to make it, but it's been so long since we've done anything worthwhile and I've 100% lost faith in the management to do anything about it, so like a Hindu cow I've accepted the fact that 11-14th place is a nice safe spot for this team to live in until the stench of the Reign of Lowe™ is completely eradicated.

Until Lowe is gone out of the organization, you will never be rid of it.

If the Oilers don't make the playoffs, Kevin Lowe and Steve Tambellini will have to resign

I'm losing respect for David Staples. None of this crap happened prior to 2007. The OS in 2007 have blinded D. Staples and others.

of course I hope they make the playoffs, but this team is probably one of the least entertaining teams to watch in the league. Was at the game yesterday, and it was honestly kind of boring. No passion, aggression or even smart plays being made out there. Watching Kopitar live was the highlight.

I would settle for a full sixty minute effort from this team before even considering the playoffs.

Playoffs have never been in the cards this season. I don't really know why anybody would have thought that was any kind of goal.

We've gotta have patience here. Let the team grow a little.

I believe it was a thought provoking article and the next guy who should gracefully exit is Kevin Lowe. Tambellini on the other hand should be given at least another year to show what he can do with this team. I get the sense however if he keeps dithering the fans will want to see him gone as well. I give him the benefit of the doubt because the ugly contracts signed under Lowe's tenure will be very hard to move.

For once, I agree with Staples...

Kevin Lowe still runs the show with this franchise. When the day comes where he's finally out of the picture for good, maybe the Oilers can move forward. Until then, don't hold your breath...
