We need to get better in a hurry. We'll need a healthy team for November. And Rej played solid last night too...argh...just keep him away from everyone else please.

Sounds like our weekend opponents are being ravaged by the flu, too. Five Flyers sat out yesterday's practice with the flu, and Krejci was diagnosed today as having the swine flu, presumably taking him out of Saturday's lineup. If that's the case, no Savard, Lucic, Krejci, et al., up front. Their top three centers would be Bergeron, Sobotka and...? Have to take advantage of that.

It probably will make its way through most of them.

I think you're most contagious before you even show symptoms. If that's the case, Miller has been exposed already. Just have to hope he doesn't get it. If he does, you have to hope he doesn't come down with it right before a 3-in-4.

Depends what exactly is going around--for the flu yes, but there's a whole list of bugs that can cause "flu-like symptoms".

Briere and Parent out tomorrow night; Stevens says it's because of injuries, not the flu. Carle is still in bed with the flu, though they're expecting him to play (how?). Asham and Carcillo have recovered.

I wonder if Lindy knows this type of stuff and if it affects how he uses his goaltender. Do you start Miller at home against an ill Flyers team? An injury-ravaged Bruins team? Do the two cancel each other out?

Regier on the goalies:
http://www.wgr550.com/Darcy-Conversation/5619346
Quote:
“Ryan Miller has to expect to play the bulk of the games. I think that between Lalime and Enroth, they will get the job done…When I saw Enroth in the [AHL] playoffs he was nothing short of outstanding. Jonas is a very capable up-and-coming goaltender.”

So Regier doesn’t seem worried about Miller’s understudies. The thought was acquiring one through trade didn’t seem to interest him. It comes from his faith in Patrick Lalime.

“He will be fine. I still believe that. His injury is a short-term situation.”

Possible. Also possible that they just want him to play tonight against the Amerks.

When you think about it, it's a pretty smart move by Regier. If Lalime isn't back until next week and Buffalo knows they're going to play Enroth on Saturday night, getting Jhonas some game action is a smart thing to do.

Updates from Vogl:

Quote:
Sabres defenseman Toni Lydman continued making progress today after missing nine straight games with a strained groin. He's not playing tonight against the Flyers but is hoping to be back in the lineup sometime next week.

Mike Grier (groin) had a light skate but will not play tonight.

Toni Lydman has finally gotten his sore groin to the point where he can play Wednesday against Florida. The Sabres have won three straight so it isn't a given he will be back. Andrej Sekera would be the likely choice to come out, but his play lately may have saved him according to Lindy Ruff, "His last two games in my eyes have been a lot better. He's been physical down low, his play in his own end has been pretty darn good."

Mike Grier skated for a bit today, but limped out of the Pepsi Center and won't be ready tomorrow.

Lindy Ruff couldn't speculate about the injuries suffered by Craig Rivet and Paul Gaustad. Then again, maybe he just didn't want to. They might be that bad.

Rivet and Gaustad suffered leg injuries during Friday's 4-2 victory over Philadelphia.
"It looks right now like both players will miss some time. Both have leg injuries, and we'll get more details when we get back home," Ruff said in Wachovia Center. "I'm not going to guess [which is worse or how long]
