Kessel would have been tough, but Heatley was completely doable. Rosival was going to Ottawa with Dubinsky and Zherdev. But, no Glen Sather, thinking like most HFBoards fanatics was too wooed by the "potential" that maybe Dubi could one day become a 60 point player. So in turn he turns down a legitimate offensive force, in hopes that maybe Dubinsky turns into something more than a third liner. Then, as consistent as clockwork, we're all sitting here wondering what pile of crap we can throw together for a short term offensive plug.
Murray turned down Sather's offer of Rozsival and Zherdev sherlock.

OK, and as I said, then countered with Roszival, Zherdev, and Dubinsky. But apparently our 40 point 3rd liner tipped the scales so much so that we turned down a guy who right now has more goals than 95% of our team has total points.
seriously....Higgins, next to probably Avery, Gaborik, and Prospal has been our best forward
and therein lies the problem.
i mean dude has less points than enver lisin for cryin out loud and we all know hes brutal.
how can you be minus 6 and be our 4th best forward?
2 friken goals in 25 friken games ??
66 shots. 2 goals. 3.03 thats his shooting %. its the lowest on the team. its gotta be one of the worst in the entire league. heck, even enver lisin is @ 7% and we all know about his awful shot.
if christopher higgins is one of your best forwards with this line

25 2 5 7 -6
then your team pretty much suks.
and guess what.....
You make some good points about Higgins and his downfalls, but the Lisin comments make you look like a homer.
and trade for one defenseman that's an upgrade over Girardi and a forward who we can rely on to put up some points or has the potential to but is in need of a "change of scenery".

Sometimes stats don't tell the entire story, Higgins has been playing great hockey...the goals will have to come considering he is averaging I'd say 4 goals or so a game, and they haven't been horrible shots either.
You know, it's not always about stats, this guy's creating chances, which is more than you can say for most of the other forwards. If he keeps his head in the game and continues to push, and gets a goal or two, I can see him starting to produce on a steady level. The guy isn't a bad hockey player.

Creating chances and converting them are two entirely different things, as I said earlier there are 12 players on this team whom have converted more chances than him.
i watched part of the game tonight - higgy minus 4 i'm a hab fan who was a higgins supporter. he desperately needs a center man to set him up so he can score goals. last year carbo went public time and time again that the only way higgins would score was 10 feet from the net and nowhere else. is he playing with drury? drury has looked bad too

He played with Anisimov and Parenteau, but has played primarily with Drury in the past and had a short stint with Gaborik and Prospal. This team doesn't have enough playmakers.
I think Carbo may have been right with that comment about Higgins... it seems like Higgins can generate offense but he struggles to hit the net. He works hard but the accuracy in his shot isn't there.
The problem with Higgins is that he's one of many players all struggling at once. A team can be just fine with 1, maybe 2 top 9 guys who are just playing awful hockey...but Kotalik (6), Higgins(2), Drury(2), Callahan(4), Dubinsky(3) (when he was healthy), Avery(4)...these guys are all struggling to find offense and are not rookies to use the rookie excuse.
I mean, but now most of these guys should be closing in on 8-9 goals by now, not even one of them is there. That's horrendous secondary scoring. So each player is just magnified, the more important the player, the more important the minutes they are playing, the more important their lack of scoring becomes.
