Mike Ribeiro

I think at this point in time, that's one player that sounds realistic for this club. A nice play-maker who can put the puck in the net as well. Love the skill-set with this guy. Love the finesse style; nice and smooth.

His cap-hit is 5 mill. I remember Dallas being interested in Redden. There were also a few Rozsival rumors at one point.

Maybe we can get Skrastins back from them, an amazing shot blocker. I've always been a big fan of his defensive game. He seems to be in awesome position all the time, and accurate with his stick checks. He makes just over 1 mill.

Redden or Rozsival, Higgins or Kotalik, and a 2nd or 3rd for Ribeiro and Skrastins.

Prospal-Dubinsky-Gaborik
Higgins-Ribeiro-Callahan
Avery-Drury-Parenteau
Brashear-Anisimov-Lisin/Voros

Staal-Rozsival
Girardi-Del-Zotto
Skrastins-Gilroy

Thoughts?

A. When does his contract expire
B. The most memorable thing I remember about this guy is that he weighed like 150 lbs when he entered the league with the Habs
C. His numbers are slightly better than Gomez-esque, I guess its an ok contract, but hardly a bargain.

5 million a year to watch Ribeiro dive and then flop around on the ice like a soccer player after any little bump he takes. sorry no thanks.

True.

We already have Avery to do that for under 2 million.

I think Dallas vomits from laughing so hard at this "proposal." Dream on.

The guy had 78 and 83 points the past two seasons and has 21 in 27 this year.

He's the kind of offensive player the Rangers need.

But you're giving alot more than that to get him and shed a contract I'd think.

A massive salary dump, an underachieving + overpayed player, and a 2nd or 3rd for a first line center on a good contract AND Skrastins? Sure, let's do it.

I think that this thread should have its title changed from Speculation to Proposal as then I could just have skipped the thread entirely

Riberio would no doubt become the first line center. Way ahead of Dubisnky.

Animisov on the Fourth Line? Why?

And this isn't gonna happen. Riberio and Skrastins are two damn good hockey players. We can just give up crap for them.

If we are going to deal for a Dallas center, then let it be Richards.

I still dream of Richards feeding the puck to Gaborik.

That would be a deadly combo.

At this point I'd be willing to trade anyone but Gaborik, MDZ, Lundqvist, Grachev, and Stepan. Everyone else should be fair game.

You're not getting Ribeiro out of Dallas for that package. You're not getting him out of there period.

Even if you could, you can safely bet on Dubi going the other way.

would be totally cool with dubi+ for ribeiro (ribs?). throw lisin in there too while we're at it. doubt they'd want rozi but that would be a Godsend . . . oh lets just keep dreaming . . .

Can I quote Don Meredith?

"If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts wouldn't it be a Merry Christmas?"

We aren't getting an impact type of player by packaging our duds/albatross contracts, stone handed grinders and a bag of chipped practice pucks.

Wow talk about some of you underrating Ribeiro.

Dallas fans would laugh at you. Sure he has a diving rep, but the guy is a VERY gifted offensive threat.

I would much rather try to get Derek Roy who most Buffalo fans see as movable.

You would be talking players like Stepan, Grachev, Mcdonagh, Sanguinetti, Werek for Ribeiro.

Something like:

McDonagh, Werek, Rozsival

Ribeiro

not happening.

any discussion of this guy would begin and end with either dubinsky and/ or cally.

again, we need to stop tying to pry quality hockey players away from organizations with our garbage.

rozy/drury/kotalik/lisin etc aint getting you anything worth getting.

Richards is definitely NOT Gomez 2.

Richards: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/player...s?playerId=778

7 goals, 25 assists, 32 points.

Gomez: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/player...s?playerId=312

2 goals, 9 assists, 11 points.

Richards is a real #1 center. Size, skill, speed, toughness, leadership.

Won a Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe.

The third line i could care less about right now. It's what's above that, that is the issue.

Also, Kotalik can be moved later, as can anyone else.

And that lineup would only be for the remainder of this season. Not next season.

I would add Stepan to the lineup next year. As well as anyone else we acquire.

And?

Dubinsky and Callahan are so overrated around here.

If you can get Richards with Dubinsky and Callahan, i do it, and run away laughing.
