Jay Leach is forever a legend in my book because he is nailing Kathryn Tappen

I believe his cap hit is still only $0.2435M since NJD are still on the hook for the other half of his salary as he was relinquished by them via re-entry waivers to MTL. Net net, nice value pickup for the cap challenged SJS.

You need to go out more, she's a dime a dozen.

Yeah he wins $243,750 according to cap geek

Good decision by the Sharks, Leach is decent and they can save 200 000/300 000$ on their 6/7th it's not that impressive but they are so close to the cap, they need to save as much money as possible.

It's good for Leach too because with the return of Gill, the Habs have 7 healthy D so he would have been sent to Hamilton + It's good for the Habs to "get rid" of a contract, because we were at the limit before losing Leach.

It reminds me of the Wade Brookbank tour of North America a few years ago:

03-Jan-04 Claimed by the Vancouver Canucks off waivers from the Florida Panthers.

29-Dec-03 Ottawa Senators traded Wade Brookbank to the Florida Panthers for future considerations.

19-Dec-03 Claimed by the Ottawa Senators off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks.

17-Dec-03 Nashville Predators traded Wade Brookbank to the Vancouver Canucks for future considerations.

03-Oct-03 Claimed by the Nashville Predators from the Ottawa Senators in the NHL Waiver Draft.

27-Jul-01 Signed as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators.

He was solid in Montreal. Pretty good penalty killer, slow, no offensive abilities, and a bad fighter, but solid defensively.

So he is a significantly worse, smaller Hal Gill?

He's 6'6 and he sucks, thats about it.

Really, he wasn't that bad, but you definitely wouldn't want him as a #6.

Only question left now is what route does San Jose take for the parade in June.

Could the Sharks send him to the AHL w/o going through waivers? It appears he has a 2-way contract so not sure why Montreal had to waive him.

2-way contracts and waiver eligibility are independent from each other.

This had me laughing! Poor guy! I guess in the end Ottawa wanted him but didn't really.

Good for the Habs. Gets them back to one under the 50 contract limit, giving them a bit of flexibility.

I know different teams have different needs, but I'm surprised no one would take a chance on Hensick or Christensen, and instead someone would take a chance on Jay freaking Leach.

On a lighter note, the curse of the #20 continues. Any player that wears the #20 hasn't managed to continue their career with the Habs for more than a season since Zednik.

2005-2006
#20 Richard Zednik

2006-2007
#20 Mike Johnson

2007-2008
#20 Bryan Smolinski

2008-2009
#20 Robert Lang

2009-2010
#20 Jay Leach

2010-2011
#20 ????

Hopefully Laraque changes his number to 20 once he gets back from the suspension.
