WJC on TV in the US

A quick question for our American friends in the crowd:

I'll be in Palm Springs this year for the holidays and I was hoping to catch the world junior championships, especially with a few big Oiler prospects going. Does any (cable) network in the US show the tournament, or am I going to have to look for an online hookup?

You're lucky to find the Stanley Cup Finals on basic cable in the US. Online feed is unfortunately your only option.

Didn't the NHL Network in the states broadcast a few games last year?

Yep, they showed quite a few WJC games down here last winter.

I think they'll be doing the same this year.

I concur that the NHL Network is the best option. They typically carry the TSN feeds to the states.

It's 215 on DirecTV. Not sure about other stations, but it's available in most cable packs according to an American friend who has DirecTV.

The NHL network is pretty good with that stuff, but it isn't part of basic cable. If the place you're staying in has DirecTV or something like that you'll be in decent shape. You'll be missing TSN, that's for sure.

I can't remember how it was this past year, but in past years I'm pretty sure a few of the games (SCF) were on Versus, which isn't part of basic cable. With satellite TV it isn't a problem, but if you just had regular cable it was. NBC does broadcast select playoff games plus the Winter Classic though, so there is a little hockey.
