Well i remember when jones first hit the stage that people were talking about him like he could be that second pairing defenseman. I think bartulis has more to his game than jones. Good in the offensive zone and very safe in the other end of the rink. He has showed flashes of defensive brilliance this early in the season. I think it only goes up from here

Regardless of how this pans out it's one of Holmgren's better moves fiscally. 600k for Oskars at the ability he's shown so far isn't bad, if he improves over those years the latter stages of this contract could prove a bargain.

A very low risk signing with the potential to be a little bit of a cap steal. Nice to see Homer making a move that could potentially ease cap worries rather than increase them for once. Good signing.

Homer, THIS is the amount a 3rd pair defenseman is supposed to make. Good signing.

600k for a smooth and steady 3rd pairing defender is a perfect signing at this stage. We'll have some cost certainty on the 3rd pairing for the next 3 years

Now this is a signing that makes sense.

Completely agree. I'm very happy about this.

Bartulis was at the Flyers Meet and Greet for season ticket holders last night between Carter and Briere. I kind of felt bad. It seemed like people almost went to Carter, skipped Bartulis, and went to Briere. Plenty of people fighting for position to take pictures of Carter and Briere but no one for Bartulis. So I made it a point to make sure he saw me taking his picture haha. Even my little sister was like "I feel bad for him."

Nicely done, Bartulis has come up and looked comfortable almost immediately which is kind of rare for a d-man that isn't a "stud" prospect, he's only 22 as well.

Young guys are always the best. Two years ago it was Downie, Coburn, and Knuble. Downie and Coburn struck up conversation with myself and McNasty(about roller hockey, they even said they sucked at roller hockey), and Knuble was just kind of there.

I agree, but you have to love Homer seeing that this guy is a solid 6/7 guy and giving him a contract that is fair and appropriate. I love it.

Man, leaving Knuble out and now Bart. You Philly folk have something against Latvians?

Means a whole lot more for Parent. With those three and Bodrov possibly around the corner he better seriously step up in all facets of the game

whats up bartulis. i like this, very low risk move. he mustve made a real impression on the staff if they already wanted to commit to him for 3 years.

Thats great for him too. Playing in the minors for awhile, and then is immediately rewarded. Nice thing is, if he turns on the suck, hes not hard to ditch.

I'm glad he got it, he does show a lot of promise and has been great so far this season, even if it's not with points, but with his defensive play, which is why he got the extension. So definitely next season we will have a base of Pronger, Timonen, Carle and Bart. Hopefully Parent will be extended/re-signed as well and as well as Coburn and we will be set for d-men.

I like him, I thought he'd be a bit more offensive given the fact he's a converted forward and was an offensive Dman in Jr.

Parent is a strictly defensive Dman, they aren't the type to get paid alot. He won't get Jones' money. I'd like to see him string some games together without getting hurt and really develop and improve his outlet decision making, defensive positioning wise, he's very solid and battles in the corners.

You're a roller player? I played for Drexel for 5 years.

I played at Rutgers for 3, don't play anymore though. Strictly ice. Roller gives my knee issues.

Glad Homer didn't hand him 2.75 like last time we signed a bottom pairing guy

I certainly hope we resign Asham, Powe, and Betts. They're cheap and they're solid bottom-sixers.

Holmgren channeling his inner Andy Reid, eh? I love this move. It'd be almost impossible for it to bite us in the ass.

I'd imagine Powe is a pretty good bet. Betts I really want back but based on how it was apparently difficult to get him signed after his tryout I'm a bit worried. And Asham I honestly don't see coming back. He's too good. He can play a bigger role on another team.

Good signing. I think Bartulis will be be a mainstay on the Flyers blueline for many more than those three years.

You're lucky, any kind of skating from me makes my lower back scream out in pain in 10 minutes.

I hear you. Know what it's caused by? Abnormally tight hamstring muscles. get a rope or some kind of strong material, and tie it around the middle of your foot. Lay on your back, grab the cord/rope/etc and extend your leg straight. Gradually pull it closer to your face until your leg is at a 90 degree angle to your body, which should be parallel to the ground. The stretch is amazing and will help out your lower back pain substantially. You can probably stretch your leg to about a 120 degree angle without ****ing yourself up too bad.
