Thats 14 players.
I'd wager on Pappy being waived/reassigned, Voros being waived, or Higgins being shipped out. Most likely Pappy though.

Christensen sucks...just another terrible move...guy is soft...just what we need...when u see the likes of Bissonette, MacIntrye & Jay Leach get claimed by other teams...u have to wonder WTF is going on...we are the softest team in the league but we find no need to add grit.

The Pens almost kill Ansimov and we make Cally fight him....that will scare them...

Next game...not even the slightest chipiness...so ****ing sad.

Scouting Report on Christensen;

Quote:
ASSETS: Owns a big shot and excellent offensive instincts. Knows where to go in order to find the back of the net, and is an emerging player without the puck.
Quote:
FLAWS: Still needs to get stronger to be able to win more battles in the corners. Must improve in doing the little things that help win hockey games.
Quote:
CAREER POTENTIAL: Inconsistent forward with great hands.

With the "toughness" Voros brings, I doubt he gets waived. He's lousy, but he's been a better alternative to Brashear recently.

You could certainly be right, but if they were going to waive Voros, wouldn't they have done it already? Or can you only have one player on the wire at a time?
Pretty certain you can waive multiple players at once. I don't think the next move is via waivers including the new backup, I have a feeling there is a minor deal in the works to REALLY shake things up maybe a more competitive back up for Lundqvist in an attempt to elevate his game.

Christensen sucks. Picking him up is an odd move, as is waiving Vally. Kind of interested in why Andrew Gross says the move wasn't unexpected.

Some weird maneuvering

I could see Glenn trading for a backup, instead of calling up Johnson, and he has all day today to figure something out because I am sure practice is done for the day.

I wouldnt mind him on the 4th line honestly. He bring some good size and he is excellent in shootouts which could bring a couple more points this season. Hard to tell who is on their way out.

Redden is "day to day" and unsure about being ready for Buffalo... and we already sent down Sanguinetti... I think signs point to another move pending.

looks like its finally time for ochocinco!!
i feel bad for vally but hes just too inconsistent for my liking. best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

this forward situation is very interesting. i dont see PAP getting sent back down considering hes one of our few forwards who looks semi-aware out on the ice these days. sending voros down too doesnt add up either because whether we like it or not, hes pretty much our only grit on this team. i have a feeling we have a trade in the works. my guess is that lisin is on his way out considering how torts has treated him publicly lately.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this is if Johnson gets called up and Henrik has his first taste of competition for his job.

#NYRangers coach Tortorella confirms Valiquette on waivers with hope of getting him to Hartford to regain form. Chad Johnson coming up.

Hey FBD, good call on Valley to Toronto.
I dunno, maybe he isn't 100%. Though, we knew from the start that Torts was going to rely on Vally this season to play more games. If he still has that mentality, he must have lost all confidence in him and is looking for someone who is a little more reliable.

Could be a bigger deal, but who has backup goalies to spare?

Little moves like these are like pissing on a house fire.

Yeah i dont see where they are going with this. The cap hits were identical so its not like they are clearing room with this move.

You give up on a backup goalie thats has had a bad start to the season, but an admirable career with the Rangers, for another lower line depth forward (like the Rangers dont have enough of those already) who happens to be a center. Dubinsky should be back in 2 weeks.

Whos the backup?

Is this precaution for Drurys condition?

Is Dubinsky going to be out longer?

What does Christensen bring to the table that other players on the Rangers or in the system cant? Faceoffs? Does he primarily play center?

Just a shake up? Doesnt seem enough for me, unless its to shake up the room because Vally was so well liked.

Odd move indeed.

More Doom

This claim is so bogus...when Bissonette, MacIntrye and Leach get waived and u see other teams picking them up when we are the softest team in hockey...just doesn't make any sense...Sather has to go.

Vally is good guy, met him in person a few times, and is well-liked by his teammates. Unfortunately, his play has regressed since 2008 and his save percentage is one of the worst in the league this season. It will be interesting to see if they call up Johnson or pick up another back-up.

As for Christensen, he's great in shootouts, but yet another underachiever. This waiver pick-up may have something to do with Torts comments concerning Lisin a few days ago: "If I had someone else here, I would have taken him out of the lineup." Another option I guess.
