I dunno. Two weeks ago I would have said Vally would be claimed, but with his recent play that's probably not the case.

I really hope Johnson doesn't end up getting shelled. This "shake up" doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would fix the defense.

Curious question... were the teams that picked them up higher on the waiver priority than us? Because if so then its a useless point.

Could the 'rumblings of players not happy with Torts' be part of this? I know Valley isn't the biggest Torts fan around....

Per Gross' Twitter:

Brashear is hurt(unspecified) which led to the Rangers claiming Christensen.

Also called the Christensen waiver pick-up "motivation for Boyle" from Torts.

Sucks for Vally as he seems like a great guy but he just hasn't been getting the job done. All that's asked of him is to keep the team in the game and he hasn't been doing that.

Don't know much about Christensen so I'll just let it play out but it seems like everyone is saying that he's depth that's good in the shootout.

Most importantly, the Rangers gotta make Johnson's number 85.

Pure speculation on my part, but does anyone see potential for signing Manny Fernandez to a contract to push Henrik a little bit? I imagine he could be had for relatively cheap as he would probably rather be making 1 mil and playing as opposed to not having any contract. He has health concerns but we aren't looking for that many games from him anyway.

Bissonette and McIntyre were claimed by teams ahead of us in the waiver order and no thanks to Leach. He would be a redundant piece with Voros and Brash on the roster even though he plays a different position.

As for having 14 forwards it might be a sign that there is a trade looming or it could also mean we're going to carry 14 forwards. It's not uncommon to carry that many forwards, especially considering we don't have a 7th d'man taking up any cap space.

That's some resounding praise, eh? Dude's barely an NHL'er, and definitely not one on a contender.

Good hands and wrist shot but that doesn't = offensive production. And if he's not providing offense he's useless.

Edit: meant to post this on the Trade Rumors board, don't take this for trolling.

The only forward on the team that Christensen is better than is Voros.

I always thought Christensen was decent... nothing fancy, but we're awful at center... he's great in shootouts, but he won't help us if we give up 8 goals in a game.

I don't think Vally will be claimed until (if) he goes on re-entry.. but he's a great guy.

Brashear is hurt so that leaves 13(without Dubinsky in the line-up)

rangers need to get their crap together...Vallycrap was a nice guy and had some great games against the flyers last year. He should get picked up by another team. However, Christensen looks like the same type of player in line with others on this team.
Good news is Ocho Cinco will be playing in goal from time to time.

Per Zipay

"Cap issues prevented Vally from being sent down for conditioning because his $725,000 would stay on cap"

Is Brash going on IR for awhile or will he just be a scratch?

No news yet. With Dubinsky and Brashear now out That leaves Torts with 13 forwards, exactly what he wants.

Considering they waived Vally in order to get the cap room I would have to think that he wont be going on the IR but just be a scratch but we will have to wait for the report.

The Sharks claimed Jay Leach...i think they have a better record then we do...so, maybe it is not a useless point.

MacIntrye was waived twice...once by the Oilers and then again by the Panthers...who claimed him..

If you are gonna talk like a tough guy...maybe u should know what your talking about.

Some motivation for Boyle may actually be a good idea.... he is ATROCIOUS on faceoffs, 36%.
