Do you really think the blues would trade boyes and berglund?
but seems the thread was asking for the value of not actual trades so was just seeing if that would be a hypothetical fair trade is all..

It's closer than most offers trying to dump quantity for quality. I think if Boyes came out scoring this year the Blues could get away with a later pick though.

I think if the Blues make a trade it's going to be for an elite forward. There is the lingering Eric Stahl rumor and a Kovalchuk rumor has just surfaced. Hypothetically, what do you think it would take the Blues to get Kovalchuk?

The initial rumor was vague but it involved Brad Boyes, some picks and prospects.

I don't think the Blues would be willing to part with Erik Johnson (centerpiece) or TJ Oshie (very popular in St. Louis).

The Blues have many young prospects in their system, enough to build a solid offer, but at what price?

I dunno the price, but as long as the words "Johnson" or "Perron" aren't used, I will gladly pay whatever price it happens to be for Kovalchuk.

I jsut traded for Kovalchuk last night on NHL10 for Boyes, Bishop and Filewich... I wish that was reality, lol.

Seriously though. I don't care what it is. I know it'd have to be a lot, as Kovalchuk is that franchise.

I offer... Boyes (or Berglund), Brewer or Jackman, two mid to high level prospect (Palushaj, McRae, Junland) OR Eller(not if Berglund's going the other way), and a 1st round pick in '10 (a third if Berglund's going the other way) for Kovalchuk.
You can have Kariya for free, if you like.

Does that get me anywhere close?

I'd give them Boyes,Berglund,Sonne,1st round pick for Kovalchuk

Any player is available not named Johnson,Oshie,Perron for the right price

If it got us a legit 40 goal/90+ point player; absolutely we would.
Your deal; absolutely not.
We neither need nor want another D man. Our team has no problem keeping the puck out of our net; we need somebody to put it in the other teams net.

That might be a little too much for a rental. Perhaps the pick should be conditional on if Kovalchuk re-signs with the Blues.

I think one of our defenseman would also be included to help clean up the logjam. I think Carlo could be included as a minor piece considering he will be a UFA after this season and he has decent trade value.

And yeah, I would definitely want to hold on to Johnson, Perron, and Oshie if possible.

No thanks.
We already have plenty of good set-up men, we need a legit finisher. Boyes isn't getting it done this year for whatever reason.
