Didn't want to start a new thread but wasn't sure where to put this link so I'm putting it here. Great footage and some excellent comments from Sinden. Also there are other videos of Howe, Gretzky and Lemieux.
Hey guys I was just wondering if any of you know where I can find footage of vintage hockey games in full? I'd like to see some games from decades back so I can have a greater understanding of how the game has evolved over time. Thanks

In this very thread are links to many many full vintage games.
with that 1968 Canada-USSR game, wasnt this close to the time when Canada had truly been pissed about the fact that they couldnt use pros in the Olympics and other tourney's when everybody knew that the Soviets were not amatures? I know I recall they did pull out of international competion in 1970.
I have been unable to find a dvd of Game 4 of the 1970 Bruins Blues Cup Finals where Orr scores his famous goal. I would think that this full game would be available somewhere but I've had no luck in finding it. Does anyone have any idea if this exists anywhere?
i am a collector and looking for adding some games from 1968-75 stanley cup finals games....does anyone know where i could find these?
The NHL Network plays Vintage Games from time to time. A lot of times they are playoff games.
If I'm not mistaken I think there are a couple Bruins/Flyers games from their finals in this thread somewhere.
What software do you use to play these files? Everything I've tried to play (or convert) them fails to recognize them.
I don't have an elaborate telephone, but wanted to play them on my computer, or make DVD-Rs of them.
Errr, the most basic computer should be able to play google video without needing to change programs. Google video changes the format of the video once its uploaded to flv I think.
Well, I downloaded two of the near-complete games and got files with an .avi.mp4 double extension. VLC Media Player failed, and so did advertised .mp4 players. Did I do something wrong?
I've found a treasure trove of old games from the most obscure minor leagues on Google Video and Youtube everything from basketball, football to lacrosse. Useful sites indeed..
Thanks for the uploads and links, always great to see vintage hockey.
Wow, I'm a bit late to the party, but these are awesome to see.
While we're requesting vids, would anyone happen to have any classic WJC videos? I never picked up the Canadian WJC DVD and I've been kicking myself ever since, I've been dreaming of seeing vids of Gretzky or any of the greats at the WJC, or the 2005 dream team.
Just saw an awesome play in the Canada/WHA-Soviet Summit Series video, the second part, about 7:30 in. The announcer didn't identify the player but it appears to be Pat Stapleton. A Soviet player is coming down the left side with the puck. As he crosses the blue line, Stapleton crosses over from his left defense position and upends the puck carrier with a hip check. Stapleton goes under the skater and continues in that direction, still in the crouched position, where he goes under ANOTHER Soviet player and upends him as well!!!
I'll second the motion that someone put up some 80's Oilers vids. I have the Edmonton Oilers 10 Greatest Games DVD set, and love them. But would be nice to see some others.
I can't believe watching these games that none of these goalies ever wore a helmet, were any Goalies ever killed or seriously injured by not wearing a helmet

If you watch you'll notice not many shots were really going around their heads.

Read or listen to some old-time players and they make it clear that it was generally understood that you kept your shots low (and a flat blade helped in that regard). If you purposely shot high at a goalie's head, you would rightly expect to incur the wrath of his stick (and his teammate's fist).

Quiz: what do the 2005 World Junior Team and the 2010 Olympic Team have in common? Highlight the white text below to find out.
Mike Green was invited to camp but cut from the roster.
I know there is a video of Game 6 of the 1959 semi-finals out there as I saw it years ago. Can someone possibly upload it?
It is noteworthy as there was a long delay as Boston goalie Harry Lumley was rushed to the hospital and got 45 stiches. CBC just did interview after interview.
Bill Hewitt did play by play and Foster the color.
It would be the last playoff game in Boston for 9 years. I would love to see it again. The tape I lost has classic ESSO commercials.
Thanks very much for posting these, Dark Shadows. The 1962 finals game 3 is the oldest extant broadcast of a game from Chicago Stadium that I know of, does anyone know of any earlier ones in existence?

I remember that one, it was actually game 7 from the Boston Garden. Poor Lumley's mouth was a mess.
