The Sommet Center is No More

Thats a shame, though the Preds should be able to recoup the lost money with the lawsuit. Hopefully a new sponsor comes through quickly as well.

First time I heard of Freeman's tax case. Hope it's just disagreements around the edges and not fraud.

I rarely used the name Sommet. I just would say "the arena". I used to call it the Gaylord, not sure why the Sommet center didn't catch on with me.

In a Tom Cruise voice, "And the hits just keep on coming."

Go Preds!

Well, this'll be fun.

As for the next sponsor I say bring on AT&T's money. I'm a contractor for them. If anyone has money to spend it's them.

Seems like the venues I enjoy around the Nashville area don't have a lot of luck with naming rights. Starwood Ampitheatre - First American Music Center - AmSouth Ampitheatre - Starwood Ampitheatre. Adelphia Coliseum - The Coliseum - LP Field. Nashville Arena - Gaylord Entertainment Center - Nashville Arena - Sommet Center - presumably back to Nashville Arena.

I don't like the smell of this one. Filing a lawsuit right before the Thanksgiving holiday to avoid as much publicity as possible-----not good.

bridgestone would be my bet- they are doing nhl already. Tax liens are always serious and rarely end well for the taxpayer. i think our thin pockets are about to get thinner.

Wonder how much this will affect the team itself versus the managment group.

Seems like every so often, after building up some positive press (7-game win-streak), the Predators organization finds some way to sh-t the bed and further crush their abilities to be a respectable NHL franchise. Is there no one in Nashville who isn't a crook, sleazebag, or awful person who can buy the team or at least not back out of an arena naming contract?!

Well WSMV is saying Ed Lang says the Sommet Group has approached them about reconciling their issues...

Sommet Center to Sommet Center? I guess it would more accurately be Sommet Center to Nashville Arena to Sommet Center.
