I'm seeing a lot of panic from some of you. Why don't we wait and see how we do without Smyth before making overpayment trade proposals.

Seeing how the team performs without the off-season acquisitions might be interesting to see. A trade at this point might be too much of a knee jerk reaction. It will help expose what true gaps the team has. It will also help determine if the team has the correct players to fill those holes or if DL will need to go other avenues and get the necessary pieces.

From my position I wasn't making any suggestions based on knee-jerk reactions, but rather the obvious.

It seems set in stone that Frolov is on his way out and everyone in the organization and on these boards is always talking about secondary scoring. With our second leading scorer out at least a month, the time seems obvious as well (depending on how Frolov responds though, if Murray actually gives him an extended opportunity).

A GM should always be on the lookout for opportunities to make his team better.

It's hardly knee-jerk. We've needed another winger all season. Parse is playing well and all but ideally we would have someone in his spot who will contribute more scoring. Or we need a defensive winger to play with Zus and Simmonds so that Frolov can be put in an offensive situation.

All of this is true even with Smyth in the line-up. Now that we're going to be shorthanded for a month we might as well make a move.

J Staal, Goigoski for Brown and JJ....

This will not happen IMO either it is still a rumor but take it as for entertainment purposes.

This is from a Penguins point of view. Enjoy.

Exactly. But I do think JJ will flourish and develop better as a Penguin. Brown also, will give them a different look..

I think I'd do it. That means Stoll becomes the 3rd line Center and Handzus is gone after next year. The Kings maintain size down the middle and get some offense from the point.

I think it seems even but I'm not the best judge with these proposals.

I am sure that Dean has played with it to some capacity in his mind for fun, but that is where it will stay, at least for now... Dustin Brown endeared himself to the franchise by taking on his leadership role and signing that long-term discount contract. He did it because he likes the location and wanted more guaranteed stability for his family, and the organization has recognized that - we would have to be talking about another Staal brother for this deal to have any real possibility i.e. someone named Eric...

I'm with you. I really don't want to give up JJ when he's having his best year with his best years yet to come. I really don't mind losing Brown I'm sad to say because there's a part of me that wants Greene to be the captain which is most likely to happen.

I would prefer to send Frolov and Brown for Staal and a pick instead.

Agreed. I guarantee Jack Johnson would skyrocket if he were on the Pens.

Hey while you are up there prancing around in his head, can you let us know if he prefers Sweet and Sour or BBQ sauce on his Chicken McNuggets?

I agree with the top part JJ is just coming into his own and i don't want to see him go. I would be ok with seeing Brown go in order to get Staal but if your adding Frolov I want to see a natural lw come back rather then a pick. Pascal Dupuis being the top one because I don't see pitts giving up Chris Kunitz and Ruslan Fedotenko doesn't impress me as a King type of player. Christopher Bourque is my second choice. We have 6 picks in the frist 3 rounds already. Time for players over picks and lw is our weekest postion.

why everyone wants to give up on Brown already?

this is the type of player you need in the playoffs...just wait and see...then decide

i would never trade Brown and JJ for Staal & Goligoski

frankly i think everyone overrates Jordan Staal

That is disappointing. Sweet & Sour sauce is made with the blood, sweat and tears of the fry guys.

The same could be said about Staal.

And a lot of people would probably say the same thing about Brown.

I love Brown but long term the Kings going to need an upgrade at the 2nd line center position.
