Spezza is struggling, its not a coincidence that before Heatley was a Sens Spezza had 76 points in 111 games. While Heatley was a Sen, Spezza had 342 points in 293 games. Now that Heatley is gone he has 15 points in 23 games. Ask any one in the league they will not be paying a player 7M to put up his numbers before and after Heatley and they wont be giving up young top line players with cheap contracts for him.

Spezza is a great setup man and i would love to have him on my team but not at 7M for 6 more years. I see Speeza like a Marc Savard he is a good compliment player, but no where near an elite talent that deserves 7M. Spezza should be making 5.5M max year and it is comical that people think he could net a franchise player like Kane or Bogosian, on entry level contracts.
Yes Spezza had lower production in his first two years than the years that follow. Majority of the players in the NHL follow that pattern. Brutal argument. You can't even make a case about Spezza having lower production before Heatley. The season is just getting going let's wait til the end of the season.

What have Kane and Bogosian done to prove they are franchise players? They haven't even had amazing seasons yet, so I can't discredit them like you have done with Spezza.

PS. The Sens arent trading Spezza folks but if you want a trade it would obvi involve Kane as we have no top line center in our system other then Spez

Ridikoulous! Spezza was a rookie back then and he had that production playing 3rd and 4th line minutes... Yup, that's how great the Sens were back then.
