The Oil have needed a Defensive D-Man since they lost Greene, just throwing in Scuderi and his "bad contract" would be real convenient for you guys. However The Scudmissle is going nowhere seeing as he is the PIECE.

I don't know if you watched Greene in edmonton but he was nowhere near the same player. He has developed nicely in Los Angeles but I'm not sure if he would have become the same player playing less minutes in edmonton. The oilers had a lot of shutdown defenseman the year they traded Greene. Smith, Staios, Tjiarnqvist was coming off a good year, Jan Hejda. They just went into a different direction. A bit too much of a different direction. They have got some nice D since then in gilbert Grebeshkov and Smid. Yeah two of those guys were there before but still...

I'm sorry, but why does that sound like a load of dung?

L.A is the team with the blue liners of the future and we've got an Edmonton blue liner in this proposal.

lol, Scuderi wasn't the deal maker. I just want Teubert. I just was trying to think of a player to balance the salaries out.

Wow, Souray is seriously underrated on HFBoards.

The guy is a top 3 goal scoring Dman in the league, 6'4, 230 and a minute eater. He isn't a puckmover, and he does make the occasional gaffe - but he can clear the front of the net and play har behind the goal line with the best in the league.

He has the best slap shot in the NHL, is seriously tough, and a great leader.

We know exactly who he is, we know he's a great player, and it was even rumored LA was one of the teams in the running when he was a UFA.

It's just not a trade we *need* to make, so no need to overpay him. I would love Souray on this team at the right price. But I don't think it would be a fair price to Edmonton.

This could be a scary team in a couple years, and that's when, if I'm LA, I use the plethora of depth accumulated to make that big trade to put them over the top.

But for at least this season and possibly even next, I can't see LA having any pressure on them to make any moves at all. And
IMO they're better off that way - use that cap flexibility to slowly build your team, and chances are better you'll be able to retain that team for more Cup runs, instead of having to deal off key players soon after reaching your peak.
You're a smart dude.

Why does LA need to add more defense? I think they could use some bodies on LW and any deal they'd make would be minor at the moment. What is EDM looking for and what do they have extra of that could be moved?

We're looking for Picks/Prospects and we have a surplus of D-Men. Souray may not be the greatest D-Man ever, but his veteran leadership is tops in the league.
Unless you guys want Nilsson.

As for the trade, I'm going to disagree a little bit with my fellow kings posters. Although, we have greater needs at other positions, I would still be interested. However, nothing close to what the OP had originally offered.

Scuderi and 2nd

for

Souray
How about
Pisani and a 2nd

for

Doughty

I think I'm already a closest Kings fan, and do follow the team closely... have for the past several years.

It's one of those teams that went through an entire organizational make-over, and started building again from the foundation up... makes for an interesting organization to follow IMO.

Of course all it will take is an intense playoff series against the Canucks, and I'll start hating them all over again - just like I did when our organization's greatest nemesis, Gretzky, became a King!

More than being a fan of the Kings, I'm a fan of how LA has built their team - through the draft, good player development, and consistently moved forward with that plan in place. IMO they are still on that track to becoming a great team.

Kings fans though should be sending a thanks to Dave Nonis and the Canucks scouting staff for letting your top player slide to you.

If the Kings are going to trade a top prospect and their 1st, IMO its not going to be for another defenseman.

Lombardi stockpiling prospects and picks and if something is going to happen, IMO, its going to be for a star forward that can take us to the next level.

Are you kidding me?

Souray for Brown and a 2nd. Now we're talking.
Is that a serious proposal?

Brown would instantly be the best player for the Oilers even when Hemsky comes back. LOL at LA having to add a 2nd.

We don't need an offensive dman that makes mistakes in his own end. We already have Randy Jones! 4G 5A 9 PTS in 11 games!
