Aye Caramba...

People take things far too literal.

Doug Weight was a young, promising player in the early 90's.

The Rangers traded Doug Weight in the early 90's, as they did with Tony Amonte (Versteeg?), to add pieces for a Cup run.

So, yes, i did. I compared the situation.

The only exception being Jack Skille does't yet have the NHL experience that Weight had (which wasn't MUCH) when he was traded.

Which would be a good thing for a team looking to possibly acquire him in a trade. You are trading for potential, not proven commodity. The price is lower.

The only problem trading Skille is it doesn't make sense for the Hawks. If the motive is to bring in a piece to aid the Cup run then they would have to send salary the other way, making it at best a lateral move. They would be better off holding on to Skille and getting full value for the likes of a Sharp or Versteeg in the off season and replacing them with cost controlled guys like Skille and Beach.

A bit redundant to say now but as of right now nobody will be moved in Chicago.

They are a legit cup contender whose team looks great constructed as is. They will need young players to fill out the roster next year so I expect a player like Brouwer or Bolland to step up and players like Beech, Aliu or Skille to work their way into the lineup.

Agreed. They have a bright future and they can re-evaluate during the off season and let a few guys go here and there. I think a young guy might be able to replace Sharp in a few years who could easily be traded for picks/prospects or to strengthen a deficiency.

He'd be like a slightly less agressive Callahan with a better skill set.
