Hamrlik

So what should the Habs do at trade deadline with Roman Hamrlik? Since the injury to markov he has really stepped up his game. He plays pp,pk and has been a leader in the room. He was a former 1st pick overall and a veteran on the blueline. He averages 24 minutes a game and has 10 points. I believe Bob should trade him like he did with Rivet where we got Gorges and Max Pac in return. I believe the Habs could get the same amount for Hammer.

Who is this Hamerlik guy? Hamrlik on the other hand has been great and trading him would be stupid.

Hamrlik do a great job in Montreal. If Gainey trade him, Spacek, Gorges, Markov and Mara are the top4. Not very well.

Harmrlik can pay 25 mins per game and he is very good in his own end... he always beat Crosby, Ovechkin and Malkin at one-on-one.

its not a stupid move for the habs. Hammer makes 5.5 mill. getting rid of him gives the habs to resign and sign guys in the off season plus they will get a pick or a prospect in return. We all know that the habs could be a better team if Bob traded away, souray, Komi,Saku,Kovalev, Tanguay,Streit,Ryder. Just imagine how many picks or prospects we could have had. The Habs could have used those picks/prospects to get better players than Mara, Spacek, etc. Therefor the Habs should change there ways and trade Hamrlik at trade deadline because realistically they are not a playoff team and I rather see the habs not make playoffs get a high draft pick this off season rather than a middle of the pack guy.

You talk about how amazing he's been, how he's filled in for Markov great..and then you say you should trade him??

He and Spotcheck have been amazing lately. The Habs cannot afford to move them

Ya he is great right now the more reason to trade him. He has high value especially for a playoff contender team. 5.5 is alot on the cap and freeing that up would allow the habs to get a player in the off season. Since Obyrne has been back he has been playing really well. He has taken Komi's spot. Yes he is not Komi but he has potential. Very good skater, hes big and hits know. He plays with more fire. Gorges and Gill after last nites victory over the Bruins has shown that they are the shut down d pairing. Markov and spacek are the offense and Obyrne is the grit and toughness we lost when Komi went to the Leafs. With Hammer gone we could get that large power forward that we have been looking for.

This really depends on where the habs are come trade deadline time. If the habs are a bottom of the pack team and dont plan on making the playoffs, moving someone like Hammer could be a good move. As the OP said, the habs will get a decent sum in return. However, if the habs are in a playoff spot and trade hammer, it will be hard to explain to the fans and the players. Guess we'll wait and see!

Hamrlik

I agree that as long as Hamrlik can keep this up for a while, we should trade him. Sell him high rather than wait until next year when his body had even more wear and tear. He isn't getting any younger and montreal cant afford to lose another of its top players to free agency(after 10-11 season) for nothing. If montreal can fetch a 1st round pick and maybe even a roster playher for him, do it. If not dont bother this year. I think this should be a deadline move more than anything else. Can only be done after the return of markov.

Hamrlik won't be traded anytime soon folks, and certainly not while Markov is out. He's been Montreal's best defenseman this season, his best since he signed as a UFA. Yes, his value would be high but it wouldn't make sense to try filling a hole somewhere by creating another one elsewhere.
