Moller Called Up

He's not in the Monarchs lineup today, and Hammond is reporting it as well.

Hopefully the Teddy experiment is over and Moller gets a shot in the top six.

I'd rather trade Purcell and get something, anything than waive him and lose him for nothing.

Glad Moller got called up though.

Westgarth is playing very well in Manchester. He will earn his opportunity and replace Ivanans sooner than later. Ivan the terrible needs to go. I can't stand his untimely momentum killing offensive zone penalties. The bonehead is a liability even with a limited amount of ice time.

I would also like to see Purcell dealt with the Kings receiving anything in return, but considering the fact that Chris Bourque (another top talent in the AHL who can't find success in the NHL) was also waived (twice), I don't see Purcell having too much value right now.

Hope so.

Trade him to the Islanders or the Rangers.

Thankfully, the contracts for both Purcell and Ivanans are up this summer. I cannot see them re-signing either player. Purcell likely won't be qualified (should he still remain a King by June) and they will likely let Ivanans walk if he isn't move before the deadline.

apparently this isn't precipitating any other real "move."

my money would be on Segal being placed on IR and Purcell getting a 14-day stay in Manchester.... that plus the break will probably enable them to make a determination on Teddy going forward.

Can the kings do that? If so, that would be a great move for both kings and Purcell.

The Kings can send Purcell to Manchester on a conditioning assignment, but he has to accept the assignment. With the Kings being short of some bodies, I find it likely that Purcell (or Harrold) will be used as a healthy scratch.

My proposed lines for the Kings to use tomorrow:

Moller-Kopitar-Williams
Frolov-Stoll-Brown
Parse-Handzus-Simmonds
Ivanans-Richardson-Harrold/Purcell

So, if Purcell doesn't accept the assignment, what are kings options?

Moller could just be what the top line needs in terms of offensive production. There was just too much passing and not enough shooting to get it done. While he's not the big body we want in front of the net, the kid can produce.

I doubt Purcell goes anywhere other than the press-box. If he's traded, it's in a package deal.

Keep him on the roster, play him, scratch him, trade him, or waive him. If he goes unclaimed, he can be assigned to Manchester and won't have to go through re-entry waivers when called back up. If he gets claimed, then they gain $600,000 in cap space.

I'd much rather see Clune, Holloway or Meckler called up to replace Purcell. At least those players play with some tenacity.

I'll take that as you don't know either. Does anyone know? Where the **** is Ron? Ron, if you don't get your ass back on this board, my vote for you as our MVP is out the door chump!

I'm all for adding Clune but I'm also curious to see how Holloway would do although, Clune is a better fit at our 4th line.

As for Purcell clearing waivers, there is NO WAY Purcell clears waivers.

1. i don't have any idea WHY Purcelll would refuse a Conditioning Assignment.

2. if that IS an option for Teddy, i don't see why the Kings wouldn't first do that instead of waiving him outright and taking their chances... if i'm not mistaken, that 14-days goes right into that big break the Kings get coming up, making any further personnel decision of this type unnecessary until after the Holidays.

3. this isn't about preference or who anyone of us thinks can provide what. this is STILL about asset management.

so if there is a step available for a player without risk to losing him outright, you would think...

by the way... with Scuderi coming back on Monday, my first thought as coach would have been to scratch Teddy and dress 7 defensemen for at least the first 2 or 3 games. bringing up Moller is as much about Teddy as Teddy has run lock-step with everyone else who isn't scoring... it gives them a different look on a powerplay that has been at around 15% since the end of October.

tough to say, what with all the injuries league-wide. nor is his trade value clear. despite what people may think.

Bourque just got re-acquired by Washington via waivers and Pouliot and Tlusty were moved for actual bodies... "first rounders!" blah blah, i know... and Purcell was undrafted. but have you SEEN either of those two?

People always think, "there is no way he clears waivers". There are tons of guys every season that people say that about, like TJ Hensick this year, and boom they clear waivers.

I'd prefer a conditioning assignment, then trade him. As opposed to waiving him and hoping he doesn't get claimed, but lets be real here, if he does get waived he wont be claimed.

the experiment ended long ago...the Ivanans project has been in full force for some time now....if he was a product being tested to hit the market and it did, the company would long be bankrupt by now...

I agree. what a useless, waste of time, no discipline, pile of dog crap he is

the only happiness i ever get from him is when i can only read half of his jersey on the ice and think that its Kopitar out there...thats about it

I answered your question. What are you confused about? Purcell doesn't have to accept a conditioning assignment, they are optional, but it doesn't look good on the player if he refuses assignment. So you asked what are the Kings' options and listed them for you. What else do you think they can do with him and his contract?

As for you thinking he won't go unclaimed, see T.J. Hensick and countless other players that post on these forums whenever a player is waived and they think he won't go unclaimed.

Not sure how many teams are dying to add a player who has 2 goals and is on a 20+ game goal scoring drought.

Well, if by refusing a conditional assignment he can force the kings to waive him, he may opt for that instead.

i proposed a similar "bust for bust" trade a few years ago featuring Yanick Lehoux going to Buffalo for Taylor Pyatt.
