Love Souray. I would want him. As far as Coglino is concerned, well I'll just say that he fits PERFECTLY in what this organization wants from top to bottom. So it might not end up as being that trade but I wouldn't be surprised on bit if Cogliano is part of this team.

And while it's not done, we are really seeing that nobody on this board would want him. Let's hope that if it happens, people will remember it and won't find anything great in Cogliano all of a sudden. He's not what we need. But he is what the org. likes.

Unless you want to make another "fresh start" type of trade...D'Agostini + for Cogliano.

Is it me or is Cogliano Edmonton's Halak? He seems to appear in every trade rumour.

This would be fantastic if it happened. Love Souray, his toughness would be a welcome addition. His shot more so.

Doesn't seem so great for the Habs either...

Considering Souray's salary for the next 3 years I wouldn't like this deal for the Habs..Taking on Souray's salary makes re-signing Plekanec very difficult...

Essentially you would probably be replacing Plekanec with Cogliano and as a Habs fan I wouldn't be in favor of that move..Only way this deal might work is if Hamrlik is involved in some way and goes the other way...

I'd prefer keeping both the bro's and re-signing Plekanec than dealing the bro's and risk losing Plekanec due to taking of Souray's high salary and replacing Plekanec with Cogliano..

That's just my view on this "rumor"...

We already have a defenseman playing on the 4th line and we'd need the cap relief that Hamrlik's contract will provide once its off the books. I seriously doubt Gainey is looking to take on another 5 million + contract back there specially with Spacek around for the next 2 years.

I don't know about Cogliano much, but I do know he's rather popular, I might be interested once I know more about his game (I don't know if he's worth the K bros). I liked Sourray's offensive plays, but I wouldn't want him back for that contract.
I didn't bother to read the article seeing the other comments. We don't want Sourray's contract.

The idea of seeing Souray going postal and kicking the hell out of Lucic's butt when he starts to shake our best players made me cream my pants.

This guy is the most underated fighter in the NHL.

definitely miss having that... both Souray and Rivet understood the need to stand up for the skill guys.

Komi got it too, but unfortunately he was all alone.

Now we don't really have anyone, Gorges and O'Byrne seem willing, but neither have that nasty streak that Souray had.

notice Ryder seeing the big hit right in front of him and making ZERO motion to step up...

1st- Ek or not, its on his site so yikes!!
2nd- I'll pass on Souray and would have to think about Cogs..
3rd- If we want something like that, why not just call up Bowman Jr. and see if he'd be interested in moving Sharp and Barker? Just saying..
4th- personally I don't think we need to do anything until the deadline, by then we'd have a better idea of what our team looks like healthy and then be able to identify our weak points! Any move made now may just be a quick fix one that only hinders us in the future IMO..

We sit what, 3 points out of the playoffs with NYR 1 pt ahead and PHI 1 pt back of us, and were missing our TRUE leader in Markov and sparkplug Gionta, not too shabby looking at where we are right now in the standings, once again IMO.. Once we get those 2 back healthy and upto speed, that's like acquiring 2 guys of their calabre at the deadline anyway. IMO Mr.Gainey waits till were healthy, upto speed and going on all cylinders, then evaluate and then make a major move if any.

That's my 2 cents anyway

man i hated to see Big Sheldon leave and thats a fact .

By no means would he be the worst of our D right now.

Edmonton paid a good chunk of that contract, which is a bonus.

Id take him back in a heart beat and fans love him here no question.

Maybe now with all the new blood and Kovy gone/ his "dvo stuff" the time is right to come back to Montreal and finish off the career as a Habs.

WHAT SUCKS

as much as i want Sheldon back , I HATE having to trade ?Kosty Bros to get him...like holy moly .Its something we had and now we gotta give tons more away to get it back? i dunno

If the price was right OK.Maybe BGL wants to go back to EDM? Shelley want back to Mtl?

BGL /1 Kosty maybeeee

but forget giving up both for that trade.

Sheldon's welcome on my team anyday but not at any price.

For the life of me I can't remember a single time that Souray lost a fight and he's fought some big dudes.

If we get Souray, we cannot keep Hammer anymore and Bergeron has to go too. Ironically, those 2 have played in Edmonton before.

Ditto. But I can't see it happening in a cap world, unfortunately.

Souray can stay in Edmonton. Overpaid injury prone bad defensive d-man = no thanks.

Agree 100%....his fighting abilities are overhyped too. I mean, Mattias Ohlund? Whenever there was a real tough guy in a scrum....Sheldon was on his best behavior. Not to mention, he rarely used his size effectively....all he is, is a big shot on the PP.

Over 5 mil for this bum would be a massive waste.

Nonononononononononononononononononono.

We all need to chill a bit... no need to go get an expensive temporary dman to fill the void until Marky gets back. I like our D A LOT with him back in the lineup... I don't see the need for the short term gain with long term pain that this trade would give us.

No more inheriting back contracts! Haha
