I don't get the Spezza hate in the SO either. He was our only shooter last year who could score.

I think people are upset, because we have the worst shootout percentage in the league but they keep using the same shooters.

It also would be nice to see what others can do.

Boston game(s) aside, I think our shooters have been doing better this year.

Not sure why people want Spezza out. I'm pretty sure, outside of Kovalev, he's got the best shooting percentage in the shootout not for just this year, but all-time.

I think Clouston feels that we're in a position where we cannot take risks on 50-50 players. I'm sure if we had 40 points right now he'd throw out Ruutu or something. He's a face I wanna see in the shootout because from what I hear he's very good.

ahahahha dont forget foligno. I know he got sat but he keeps giving him second line or first line duty and he is and always will be a 3rd liner that can chip in with the odd goal.

I think Foligno has that 2nd line potential. Just no consistency to his level of play.

Giguere's worse at the shootout than Elliott.

Ugly game but I'll take the 2 points.

Next time I'm at a home game, I will literally jump on the ice after we score a goal to create enough of a disturbance in the momentum to prevent the previously inevitable responding goal by the other team.

Remember from a few years back that streaker in Calgary who tried to jump on the ice and fell and knocked himself unconscious?

For whatever reason that is instantly what I thought of when you said you'd jump on the ice to create "a disturbance".

Ok so 22 y/o forwards scoring 17 goals in their 1st full season can't progress anymore and become 25 goals scorers down the road (aka good 2nd liner) ???

Thx you for the hockey lesson

Patrick Eaves?

Your right though players always get better. Nobody ever maxes out early.

Either way, it's stupid to say you know one way or the other.

Except that Foligno doesn't have the obvious physical limitations that Eaves had (both size and speed below average for an NHL forward).

Foligno has the tools to be a respectable 2nd line player. That doesn't mean he will become one, and the difference between success and failure in todays NHL is incredibly small (often intangibles such as luck, chemistry, confidence) .

But to deny that he has the tools is wrong.

I think his statement has more to do with the assumption that just because players are young, they will get better which isn't always the case. it's definitely possible for their development to become stagnated for what ever reason.

Exactly.

I like Foligno (personally feel he'll be a 20-25 goal guy) but I can see where people are coming from who believe he's maxed out as a grinder.

Or Chris Higgins?

I know what you're saying but did i say anywhere that Foligno will become a stable 2nd liner for sure?

I just said that it's ridiculous to condamn a 22 y/o player saying he won't ever progress. He could become a star, he could be out of the NHL in 3 years... Who knows?

What is more likely is that he finds himself between the 2 situations

Who knew Rich Peverley would be that good with the Thrashers?
