Penalty box situation, serve concurent or consecutive?

Here is the situation:

Number 11 on team a cross checks #3 on team b.

Number 11 on team a get in a fight with #5 on team b.

Number 11 has 7 minutes in penalties. Does he sit in the box for 7 straight minutes? Or does #1 from team a sit for the cross check penalty while #11 only sits for the 5?

numbner 11 on team A and number 3 on team B both sit for 5 minutes for fighting and dont leave teh box until the first stoppage after those 5 minutes are up

another player from team A serves number 11s 2 minute minor, making it a 5-4 powerplay for team B.

A different player from Team A serves the minor penalty for the power play and is allowed out of the box at the conclusion of the 2-minute PP (whether penaly time expires or a goal is scored), but the penalized penalty is supposed to sit for all 7 minutes.

Which brings up a question related to the NHL?

If the extra penalty is served by another player, how did Carcillo get a 9 minute penalty?

I believe it would be because no Capitals player received a penalty on that play. Carcillo was the only one penalized, so he could serve it all by himself.

In the original scenario in question, since there was an additional penalty given, a power play was to follow, and you need someone to go on the ice once the PP is over. The player that fought can't leave since he's in the box for 5.

I think.

AHF is right about Carcillo. I believe he got 5 for fighting, despite his victim not fighting, 2 for instigating and 2 for crosschecking.

Ok that makes sense then. Wasn't 100% sure.

For USAH, major penalties have to be served first. Team A would be be on a 4 on 3 pp for 2 minutes (team B has two players in the box, Team A one), after 2 minutes team B player #3 would release from his two minute minor, 4 on 4 even strength, after 5 minutes, team B #5 would release making it a team B pp for the remaining time of Team A's 7 minute penalty.

You switched the teams around and confused me.

So you are saying that team A would actually serve 9 penalty minutes(if no goals are scored)?

I am pretty sure that your scenario is not correct. Offsetting penalties(the 5 for fighting) are let out of the box on the first whistle after 5 minutes. That also results in a 5 on 5.

Are you playing USAH hockey? Team A serves 7 minutes in penalties with only one man in the box for all 7, the major penalty has to be served first then the 2 minute. Team B has two men in the box to start, one for 2 one for 5. So, Team B is SH for the first 2 minutes, even for the next 3, and on a PP the last 2. 7 minutes. Forget about putting a player in the box for Team A, they don't get one.

I think we have break down of communication. Maybe I explained it wrong. There are 3 penalties.

Team A 2 penalties(by 1 player), cross checking and fighting

Team B 1 penalty, fighting

Ok, now I see. When you mentioned #3 for team B I thought they were both crosschecking.

2 minute PP for Team B. Team A puts a player in the box, released after 2 minutes. #11 of Team A serves 7 minutes.
