Better ambiance?

What game would have the better ambiance?

NYR at NYI or NYI at NYR?

Discuss.

It's much more mixed at the Colisuem, usually 50-50. At the garden, there are very few islander fans. So because of that, I'd say the Colisuem has alot more intensity.

However, I prefer being surronded by Ranger fans so personally I'd pick the Garden.

I have to say, I do enjoy hearing the "Potvin Sucks" chant at the Coliseum. It always makes me proud to see Rangers' fans take the home crowd out of the game.

I prefer the Garden ambiance because it's "home," but the ambiance at the rivalry games are usually good regardless of where they are played.

Is a NYI at NYR ambiance really way better than a standard Rangers home game ambiance, say Habs vs Rangers?

im not sure about overall ambiance but i can tell you there are at least twice as many Habs fans invading MSG than there are NYI fans, which speaks volumes about each fan base.
as for the msg vs NVMC abiance debate...there isnt much of a debate unless you are a fan of hepatitus, that building cant be demolished soon enough.

I think "very few" is an understatement, it's usually somewhere between 60-40 or 70-30 Rangers fans.

I once sat in section 324 for an isles-rangers game and it was predominantly islander fans. I'd say there were at most 8 ranger fans in the section.

I've been to a lot of rival games before, and I have to say I think NYR@NYI is always the most intense. I still love the garden obviously, and I have a blast when it's at the garden, but there's something cool about being a fan of the "away" team. I'm hoping to make my first trip into Philly this year...should be interesting to say the least, hope I make it out alive

I may also go see the Rangers @ Ottawa, and if I somehow have the money, @Montreal.

To be honest, the Garden is quiet and tame if the team isn't scoring or fighting. I've never been to Nassau for a game but I think I can see a difference on TV during games and it seems like an event in Nassau.

The crowd at the garden has been really crappy last few years. This year is even worse and lots of empty seats. That's what happens when you have a team that cant score, and high ticket prices during a recession.

idk if you were talking about just NYR-NYI games...but the coliseum is dead when there isn't a devils or rangers game there. Their attendance is horrible.

NYR @ NYI is the best. It's always so intense in there. I wanted to go to one this year, but the schedule didn't work out the way I wanted.

Maybe this year with the surplus of tickets out there and the Isles being decent, there will be more Isles fans in the Garden and it'll be a mad house.

I find this hard to believe. I have been going to Ranger islander games at the garden for 8 years and never have there been a noticable amount of islander fans like your saying. Detroit, Montreal, Toronto, Philly and Boston bring far more than the Islander ever have.

60-40 is a joke

Maybe 90-10 or 80-20 at best

Ambiance? MSG is one of the great place to watch a sporting event- period. People fly in from out of town just to see the godawful Knicks to get a taste of the experience.

That said, it's always fun to go to Uniondale and see the Ranger fans take over the house. I kind of feel bad for the Isles organization when that happens- oh, wait, no I don't!

MSG, no contest.

what sections are you guys sitting in where you feel as though the isle fans are that horribly represented? I've never sat in the 400's for an isles-rangers game, so maybe they don't venture into the 400's. Maybe 60-40 was an exaggeration but 70-30 certainly isn't.

Maybe it's because I sit in all STH holder sections. But even so, the amount of NYI coming to the garden is no comparison to the amount of NYR going to the colisuem.

The Coliseum is a dump!

One of, if not the most antiquated arena in pro sports.

Rangers-Islanders
Rangers-Devils
Rangers-Penguins - lots of booing at Crosby
Rangers-Caps - recent playoff series has re-sparked the rivalry
Rangers-Habs - original 6, tons of visiting Habs fans singing "Ole" gets the Garden Faithful riled up- will be great to see how the crowd reacts to Gomez's return

Rangers-Flyers used to be great, but it seems to have died down a bit.
