...SECOND Best Player of All Time...

Almost everyone would agree that Gretzky is the best of all time... who, in your view, is the second best player to ever lace up a pair of skates?

Orr/Gretzky can both be considered #1. Lemieux is the clear #3. And the rest is debatable. (I think there are bettre players than Howe at #4, even though the length of his career is phenomenal.)

*note: The Conn Smythe trophy was not in existence until after Howe won his cups.

Lemieux isn't the clear #3, I'd say Howe is. In fact, I think Howe is closer to Orr/Wayne than he is to Lemieux. Howe doesn't just have unbelievable longevity, he had a remarkable peak as well.

Who would you have ahead of them? Who's going to vote for anything other than Orr/Howe anyway?

So why did you even put them on the list?

Who cares what the poll options are if you're not going to vote for them? Seriously, if you don't see the player you would put at #2, vote "other" and specify. Not a challenging concept and no need to criticize the poll options really.

Back to the topic.... Looking like a landslide for Bobby Orr...

It depends completely on the voting criteria.

Who was the best at their best, or who had the best career? etc

#99 is #2 (that is not a poop joke). What Orr did as a defenseman is insane.

This is a good explanation of why Gretzky is #1 overall...he is in the top 1 or 2 for either of these criteria. I don't think that can be said of the others.

Career: My top 2, not in order, would be Gretzky and Howe

At their best: My top 2, not in order, would be Gretzky and Orr

Was there a poll for number one, or did the Op just select Gretzky as the number one? I would pick Orr as the number one personally.
