The ideal trades for me would be something like the following:

Rozsival + Sauer + Higgins

Horton

Girardi + Kotalik

Bieksa + O'Brien

Horton-Prospal-Gaborik
Callahan-Drury-Avery
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Lisin
Boyle-Chrsitensen-Brashear

Redden-Gilroy
Staal-MDZ
Bieksa-SOB
Heikenen

Really? The first trade is basically assuming Florida accepts overpaid junk, a mid level prospect, and gritty 3rd liner with no scoring touch who has only eclipsed 38 points once in his career for an already proven 24 year old with the potential to be a star? Yea, thats gonna happen.

The second trade certainly has a better chance of happening although Bieksa is also worth more than both Kotalik and Girardi. Girardi for OBrien is more likely to happen. Maybe Vancouver throws in late pick on top but thats it.

Demitra? Are you guys serious? You only trade for a 35+ year old player if you think you're winning it all. And guess what...we ain't winning it all!

Girardi is worth more than a rental,#7 D and a back-up goalie.

We all know Sather. He never really does what is expected (except on July 1), so all of these dream scenarios are for nothing.

I wouldnt expect anything earth shattering.

Sather will probably pull the trigger on a borderline top six player (think Petr Sykora and Martin Rucinsky from years past), and that will be that.

Agreed.

Vancouver fans were proposing:

Rozy + Dubinsky + Higgins
for
Demitra + Bieksa

I think we need more, but replacing Rozsival with Bieksa would make me dance like a fool.

Prucha's untouchable. Don't you remember that he scored 30 once?

He's got about the same amount of points as Higgins, Callahan, and Drury this year...

You don't trade Dubinsky when you're the softest team in the leauge. End of story.

Rozi, Sangs, and Higgins for Bieska and SOB

I wonder if that could work.

No, they just have too many d-men. Last I checked they have 8 NHL d-men and Bieksa was having to play forward in some games.

I don't get it. He had one 31 goal season. The rest of his stats look similar to Higgins. We need goal scoring!!!

Yeah, and what was he doing the following two seasons? Do goals not count until you pot 30 of them?

Horton is playing great hockey this season. He's using his body and creating opportunities for himself and for his linemates as well. Big body with some grit. That's the kind of player we need. Horton could definitely be a 30-30 guy playing with Gaborik.

30 goal scorers aren't falling out of trees in the NHL. Only 39 people scored 30 or more last season. That's barely enough for one 30 goal scorer per team. I think 'settling' for a consistent 25ish goal guy is a pretty good move at this point.

I just don't like it. Seems like a lateral move. Unfortunately, I don't think Sather can fix the problems on this team this year. I'm hoping for Sather to put in an offer sheet for Bobby Ryan in the offseason. Now there's your goalscoring powerfoward. Imagine him and Grachev as a one-two punch tearing down the wing.
