Dan Cloutier Snaps in Return

Looks like Dan Cloutier has not mellowed with age. He was playing for the Rockford Icehogs against the Moose on Monday night when he snapped and was tossed from the game:
Quote:
Dan Cloutier, the former Vancouver Canucks goaltender, started for Rockford in his first game in more than a year and a half, but he didn't stick around long.

Cloutier, who was coming off two hip surgeries, got tossed from the game early in the second, with Manitoba leading 1-0, after losing it in a skirmish with Moose forward Guillaume Desbiens.

Cloutier received a match penalty, apparently for throwing pieces of his equipment at Desbiens.

No word if he re-injured himself while hurling his equipment at Guillaume Desbiens.

He did however earn himself a suspension in his first game back since the Paleolithic Era.
Quote:
The AHL also announced that Rockford IceHogs goaltender Dan Cloutier has been suspended for one (1) game as a result of his actions in a game vs. Manitoba on Dec. 6.

Cloutier was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 51.4 after being assessed a match penalty for roughing.

Cloutier will miss Rockford’s game on Friday (Dec. 11) at Texas.

You go, Dan.

I agree, he may not be able to stop a beach ball, but he's damn entertaining to watch explode.

Damn, I was hoping for a video

From what I've heard (from both Hog and Moose fans), it was one of those games where the refs forgot to show up for the first period, so anything went. The dirty play on both sides kept escalating and culminated with Desbiens taking a run at Cloutier after a breakaway.

Having lost control of the game, the refs called a nine minute PP after Flinn pounded Desbiens minutes later while he turtled.

With the way everyone on HFBoards portrays the Flyers, they'll probably sign him now that Emery is on the IR.

Keane fought a guy 19 years younger than him in the 3rd period, too.

Best I can do.

I think Jassen Cullimore is advising Cloutier to book anger management classes.

BTW that is two ex-Canucks. Cullimore was selected by the Canucks round 2 (#29 overall) in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft and played 64 games between 1994 and 1997.

Here is the description of the game from a Chicago blogger:

Cloutier should have become an agitator after his goaltending career started to go downhill.

being an isles fan i vividly remember how completely crazy clouts was/is...he beat the snot out of europuss Salo...but its ok bc DP evened things out a few years later by destroying the now departed rangers Al Montoya....but that vid of clouts talking smack to the entire isles bench was humorous. not sure if odjick was on the team a tthat part of the seasonn, but i think hed have beaten the snot out of the kid, paul kruse wouldve hurt him up pretty good too. either way, it was entertaining and nice to see hes grown up

I think the ref ticked him off by stating that he was staying at the Super 8...
