Let me start by saying I haven't watched every game this year (don't get them unless on VS or streaming online), but what's with Giroux?
I know everyone on here has a chubby for him, myself included, and when I watch him play he is just so smooth and quick, reminds me of Foppa. But 3 goals 16 points in 27 games? People on here are giving Carter a hard time, he's got 23 points (and leads the team).
So what's Giroux's deal? Is it his linemates, missing chances, bad luck, or just playing badly and slumping like the rest of the team?
I only bring this up because everyone here is bashing essentially every player on the team, but I have yet to see Giroux's name mentioned and wanted to know why.
He's not shooting the puck a lot this year, seems to be passing it quite a bit. 38 shots on goal this year. You also have to remember that Giroux is historically a slow starter, and I think what you're seeing now is a continuation of that. Expecting him to heat up sometime around or after the Winter Classic.
Well, anytime you have such high expectations for a young guy, it's generally safer to expect him to not do as well under the pressure. He's doing little things right (well, maybe not now, though I admittedly have not had the stomach to watch games while we've been ******) so that hopefully means he will do better in the future.

16 in 27 for a sophomore isn't bad. He's doing alright, plenty of effort but with little luck.
It's not a lie. Only rare players don't experience it.
I kind of knew Giroux would go through one, but hopefully he breaks out soon. He is a slow starter after all. The fact that he's a passer and nobody can find twine right now doesn't help much either.
We are complaining about Carter because he si a big time player who was in the All Star game, projected for team canada, and yet, not playing well.
Giroux is a 2nd year pplayer, still trying to find a position, in a bit of a slump, yet still on pace for 50 points. On top of that, he is normally a slow starter.
Giroux is only 7 points behind our leading scorer. That can bemade up in 2 or 3 games EASILY.
Could it be the fact that he's only 21 and has only 71 games of NHL experience? Young players are often inconsistent. The problem was many of us expected too much from him too early in his career. His play has been fine.
He has not been in the league for even a year as well. Pople consider this his sophmore season, when in reality, it is still his rookie year ?(like 70 games played)
Hes not getting open space to work like last year. Prob cause hes seeing teams better defensemen, not their 3rd pairing. He looks fine. My main concern was his size, and hes looked more then comfortable and capable in puck battles along the boards.
i think he is just getting moved around so much playing with different people that its hard to get into a rhythm (unfortunately this seems to be a team wide problem as well). he's one of my favorites right now and i hope he breaks out sometime soon (along with EVERYONE ELSE)
Also, it doesn't help that he's a playmaker on a snake bitten team. Though the Flyers tend to do very well at getting a player in position to make a centering pass but it happens so often that the rest of the line isn't on the same sheet of music and there is no one in position to make use of that centering pass.
