I would shop Carle around for upcoming UFA d-men (that makes less money) and a pick or a prospect back or even both.… Carle’s numbers are good. Thank you Pronger. Time to sell high and shake things up.
I would not want to move anyone else.
And for those that want to trade Carter.. How many 40 goal scorers Flyers drafted since.. lets say 90s. Not including Carter. One?
The only reason to want to trade Carter is if they think they'll never be able to resign him, which was already a concern. When his current deal is up, if he hits 40 goals again either this year or next year, he will price himself out of philly. Our cap situation is just terrible and Homer has to be wary of locking up 6-7+ mil in cap to 1 player again like Briere. We better be well compensated (top 6 forward, top 3 Dman, draft picks) if they do trade him at some point. But the idea of trading him isn't far fetched. Riemer has shown he was worth that #2 pick, hes a big skilled body who should be able to bury 40 goals at some point in the future.

Yea, and he hammered 46 goals like he should have. The next year, without Forsberg, with the team finishing last, he was 1 of only 2 players on the team to have a positive +/- and he hammered 41 goals, so whats your point? Ive been guilty of ragging on gagne over the years ill admit it. Hes injury prone. Even tho hes played 70+ games a season for most of his career, hes rarely looked 100% for most of those seasons. Despite it, he averages almost a PPG, and he is a very good 2 way player. His salary has never been a bank breaker. His skills are still there, hes not that old, the only thing hes lost is breakaway speed.

I wonder what it would take to get Justin Williams back here. He won a cup under Lavi....I'm sure that there would be some interest. What do you think he is worth these days?
Carle or Coburn straight up?
Briere for Willy +?
Hartnell?
Carter for Willy +?
I think Williams would look good with the mix that we have now, but I'm not sure what it would take and what I personally would want involved. What do you guys think?

It would more likely be Hartnell for Williams really.
Carter is an enigma, he only seems to be on his game when Richards is injured it seems.
He has shown he can take over games alone, but we haven't seen it in awhile.
I wouldn't give up on him yet, but i think if the deal is right Homer won't think twice about letting him go.
Don't lump me in with these people! Trading Hartnell, Carter, Richards, or Giroux would be absurd at this point. These guys are already stars in the NHL and haven't even reached their prime yet.
Neither Hartnell nor Giroux are stars.
And I don't think people are talking dump trades, but trades that mix up the chemistry a bit.
Personally, I think Hartnell is a clown and I'd like to see him gone if what comes back is proximate to him in skill.
Not too bad, but Ryder KILLS it for me. Yuck, he sucks. I never want to see him in a Flyers uniform.
Colborne was a first round pick, but nothing special. That package is awful Ryder or no Ryder.
A team hoping to contend doesn't trade a player of Carter's skill set unless the deal improves the team. These proposals for picks and prospects and complimentary players are ridiculous.
Players like Carter don't grow on trees. The last thing they need to do is trade him for a package of lesser players.
You wanna trade Hartnell? One of the few guys we have who is REALLY strong on the puck in corners, scores 30 goals, and has a long term low cap hit contract?
If you trade Hartnell and dump Carcillo, you really need to bring a guy with size in and extend Asham's contract.
a guy like who?
Dustin Brown? it would be difficult to find a guy near Hartnells skill set for similar money.
I would trade Carcillo before they deal Hartnell.
All I got to say is if Hartnell is traded it better not be for a lazy turd like Frolov.
2 first round picks and Colborne for Carter is a done deal. Fine take on Ryder too. Joe (Jumbo) Colborne is a 6-5, great hands and smart, a consummate playmaker and he can score. Where are the trade papers?

This improves the team this year how? It's not a good value in any sense of the imagination.
Trading Carter right now for 60 cents on the dollar would easily be the dumbest thing Holmgren's ever done and considering the Jones/Stevens debacles, that's really saying a lot.

Great thought.
But you should have saved it until someone actually suggested that.

Implicit in the nature of said trade is that it's a long-term move. The value comes down the road. Focusing on short-term fixes has not served us well anyway.
Just curious to see at this point in the season who you guys think the Flyers could do without...by either trading, waiving, not re-signing, etc, taking into account who we could get in return.
I'm putting in my two cents IGNORING injuries, although I agree that's tough to do in a couple of cases.
For my list:
Danny Briere (still think he isn't quite worth the contract, but sort of on the fence)
Braydon Coburn (I think we could do better for a 2nd pairing defensemen)
Simon Gagne (I know he's injured, but I think he's on his way out)
Miika Pyorala (Just haven't been overly impressed with him)
I know Coburn and Pyorala still need to develop, but if push came to shove I would be OK with moving them.
