Throw the Islanders a third or a prospect (Matsumo+?) for Biron.
We don't really have any other choice, do we? He's a solid goalie and deserves a chance to show what he can do behind a well-rounded defense.
Then why bring him to Philadelphia? The Flyers have 1 well rounded defensive pairing, a pairing playing awfully, and a young defensive-minded pairing. And recently, none have played very well.
This team has a lot bigger problems than goaltending.
Boucher should start until the team picks up the play. This is what back-ups are used for. After that give Emery a shot. If Emery hasn't improved along with the team, then he's expendable. Improvement should be the goal, and replacement should really only be used when severe individual regression occurs. Emery's play has declined in accordance with the team's play.

This. But there will be s in the mean time unfortunatly
Yeah. But you never know - if someone catches fire it may turn quite quickly. I think maybe Richards pots a couple tonight and I think Giroux might bulge the old potato sack as well.
There is no such thing as a bigger problem than goaltending.
They have gone hand-in-hand, that is for sure.
If you're actually insinuating that Emery is the reason this team has played poorly recently, then I really don't feel like debating that topic.
I conceded Emery has been bad recently. But if you can't see how awful the defense has been in front of him, and how awful the offense has been in front of that defense, you're blind or ignorant.
You're right, when you've got bad goaltending, it should be addressed. But what's the point with the Flyers? Both their defense and offense have been awful. Without a decent defense and offense, how are you supposed to win a game? Do you want Emery to make that first breakout pass our defenseman haven't been able to do? Do you want him to control the puck in the offensive zone corners and win foot races to start the forecheck?. How many passes were intercepted at the Flyers own blue line against the Caps? How many odd-man rushes did the Flyers give up to he Sharks? How many Power Play goals did the Caps score on the Flyers?
Emery does not play in a vacuum.
This team's offensive and defensive woes trump any problems in net. Want evidence? Most Flyers fans agree Boucher has played better than Emery recently (definitely true), and yet how did Boucher do recently? His record is 2-4, and both of his wins came in games where he had to play outstandingly just to keep the Flyers in it (one of those games was against the Islanders). Isn't that a little telling of the support from the team in front of him.

pretty much, goaltending can makes even **** teams look decent.
Evidence of this?
I think it's more obvious that good teams make even mediocre goalies look decent. How many cups did the Wings win with Osgood in net? How are the Blackhawks doing with Huet in goal? Yet, how many Cups have the Canucks won with Luongo?
This is a hockey team made up of individuals. When the team as a whole is playing badly, what's the point of placing the blame on one of those individuals?
Emery will be fine. I still think he is our guy, and will win everyone over at the end of the year. Everyone is looking for the new scapegoat and he just happens to be it. Picking up Biron would be absolutely ridiculous and a waste of money that could be spent in postions of more need (3rd line center if Betts gets injured again....a good RW...another Dman in case of injuries). Emery and Boosh combo will be fine....lets just ride it out.

....and what has Brodeur won without Scott Stevens?

Once in a while a good goaltender lifts his team, "stands on his head". Has Emery done that at all? When was the last time the Flyers outgoaltended anyone?
Of course there are other issues, but teams with really good goaltending don't go through extended losing streaks like this because their goalie "steals" one.

i recall earlier this year when he outgoaltended Marty early in the year. He stood on his head at times in that game, BUT he had solid defense and scoring going the other way to go along with that. He hasnt been the Ray Emery we saw earlier in the year. And he hasnt even looked like to make steps to getting to that point either.
