I almost feel bad for those guys right now, but not quite, taking 5 penalties in a row is pretty unacceptable and at least 3 of them (Briere, Coburn, Pronger) were stupid and easily avoidable.

It's about time they start taking responsibility for their actions. Glad to see this from Lavy.

My only (slight) reservation is that I don't think bag skates are proven to work that effectively (Herb Brooks in 1980 aside), I know Ferraro for one is pretty against them and he's someone I usually respect.

In seriousness, think the scene in Miracle where Brooks murders his team skating after they play a bad game.

I've never really done them in hockey, but I've done essentially the same thing in soccer, there was nothing worse than showing up to practice and seeing no balls on the field because you knew what was coming.

I always found it worse in hockey when the pucks were on the ice, but we all knew that if someone did something silly with one before drills started we were doing full ladders and some dumb ****er starts shooting one around anyway. The pucks then sat there taunting as we skated around without them.

Bag skating? Awesome!!!

Go head, take another selfish penalty. Finally some terror after years of easy life.

Hopefully, Carcillo is skating with them.

Please, Carcillo would rip his groin out if he was made to do bag skates everytime he did something stupid.

Thanks Hover. I was gonna ask the same thing.

I said I hoped he'd skate their balls off after the loss to the Caps. I guess I got my wish.

I guess the players aren't used to their coach not baking them cakes when they aren't preforming well.

It may not be a bag skate, more just hard skating drills.

I remember when I was 15, we beat a team 7-0 in the round robin and then they made it to the finals and beat us 4-2, there was not a puck in site at the next practice and coach skated us till we puked, 1:15 of steady skating, and it worked, went on to win Provincials !!

Here's more on the accountability discussion:

http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/landi...198&feedID=695

Quote:
Punish one, punish them all.

Laviolette wants it known the enforcement code applies to first-line players as well as fourth-liners.

“That was penalties, people who take poor penalties and put themselves ahead of the team,” said Hartnell, who often wears the “Scarlet Letter” in that department. “Do a little bit extra skating, then the team skates with you and you do a little extra afterwards.”

Hartnell earned a double minor for roughing in Tuesday’s 6-2 win over the Islanders. Danny Briere took a bad elbowing call and a hooking call. Chris Pronger had a hooking call. Claude Giroux had an unnecessary cross-check.

Five of the Flyers’ nine penalties came in the second period; three in the final period.

“The penalties [Tuesday], I’m not calling out Giroux, but he’s changing, at the end of a shift, and he cross checks someone from behind and that kind of started all the penalties in the second period,” Hartnell said, arguing the team doesn’t mind killing off “good” penalties.

“The cheap ones, the stickwork and elbows to the face, always seem to bite you in the butt.”
