I've only seen Rasmussen when they played the collage teams recently. He's a big guy (191 cm / 93 kg), which is something this team needs. He looked good and scored a couple of goals on that road trip but it's hard to judge a player against inferior competition (on a crappy stream no less).

Elite Prospects say:

Rasmussen has good size and is offensively skilled. He find the net in a good way, is skilled with the puck and finds his teammates easily with passes. Skating is in need of some improvement, though.

9 pts for Västerås this year.

Pär Mårts per http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportblade...icle6214366.ab

Quote:

Hjärtat sa Lukas, motiverar Mårts i SVT.

Skellefteå's D will be errr.. interesting during this time. Good thing for them that they've started the year so well.

Anyone wanna take a stab at the lineup?

Krüger - Josefson - MPS (or MPS - Krüger - Josefson)
Tedenby - Johansson - Petersson
Silfverberg - Lander - Klingberg
Rödin - Lundberg - Brodin

Why isn't Gabriel Landeskog on the roster? He has been very good in the few games I've seen him play.

By the end of the week Karlsson will either be released to the WJC or be staying in Ottawa according to Bryan Murray.

This team is going to be really interesting to follow.

Luckily I will be spending new years eve with a very good friend of mine who also is a big hockey nut, so I won't miss any of the games. Btw, didn't team Sweden butcher the russians last new years? I hope we'll see something similar this year.

I think Mårts made a mistake when he decided not to bring Urbom, but I can't complain, the defense is looking absolutely fantastic. I was also hoping to see Landeskog on the squad, he's an interesting player, but I can understand why he didn't make the cut. He's still young though, so we'll see him play at least one WJ tournament before he gets too old.

Almqvist has been doing really good since getting promoted to HV71's senior team. Any chance he can get the last spot?

I think it's already settled that the last spot will go to Simon Bertilsson if Karlsson can't go.

Karlsson decision expected today, he is most likely going to stay with Ottawa.

Listening to the Ottawa Senators pre game show on the radio (They play the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight), www.team1200.com, and Bryan Murray just annouced that Erik Karlsson will not be released for the WJC because he is playing on the big club.

Bummer, but I guess we'll see Bertilsson then.

Can anyone explain something for me? It was announced here that Robin Lehner had been given an invite to Sweden's WJC training camp on November 23rd and then maybe a week or so later the roster was announced and he wasn't included? Does he still make the trip home to take part in the training camp in case one of the goalies gets injured? Did his playing in N. America hurt his chances of making the team? Any chance he makes the team next year?

I don't know much about the other two goalies on the roster but Lehner has been amazing for us this year and we'll be happy to keep him.

Short answer on that is yes, but he is also competing against SEL-starters in Markstrom + Nilsson.

It's now official that Marts chose Peter Andersson as the last member of the roster. Nothing wrong with that since he's been doing great this year. I would personally have preferred Urbom instead. I'm going to be a bit upset if Sweden looses to Canada again because we can't stand up against the around our own goal. Urbom could do that job quite effective IMO.

Didn't look too good imho. I think Anders Nilsson is the better choice in a game vs Canada. He seems calmer and stronger against players that drive hard at the net.

was about to ask about Nilsson. I've been a supporter of his for some time. In the various who's your favorite dark horse goalie threads I often bring his name. I didn't think he was outstanding tonight but surely didn't look out of place and certainly calmer than Markstrom.
